He's good. Buy a tear. Max bomb first. Use your bombs to scout. Ult someone before they die. Try not to have to ult yourself. Team with other champions with control abilities. Coordinate your CC. Ashe is pretty cool. He's not that tough to play; it's about recognizing threats and reacting fast.

Don't play him support. He's too gold dependent to do well as support.

His kit is better mid where he can get gold, have a level advantage to help his team level up faster. (His passive increases it's exp generation the higher level zil is) And with AP, his revive is WAY more potent.

He's good if you know why he's actually good. Ignore anyone who says max bombs first, because if you want damage, you're playing the wrong support. Max E first for a slow equivalent to a stun, that let's you easily land your actual stun with the Q reset, followed by another 99% slow. Put your ult on autocast and you can pull off crazy saves, with good reflexes. Catch people out with your CC combo, make juggernauts impossible to kite with your 99% speedup, etc. etc. Build Mejai's towards the end of your build, when you're finally maxing Q (the last thing you should max), because Zilean never dies and the Mejai stacks makes your damage a threat to carries even with Mejai's as your only damage item. Zilean's situationally excellent, just not something you can blind pick.

I main ziliean support and got to Plat 1 last season, in promos for diamond. He works just fine in the support role if you are a man and go full AP.

Max bombs. then w, then e. You are playing to support AND carry. You also need to use your autos a lot in lane to proc your thunderlords. Auto, q, auto. 45% CDR is a must.
