I main zilean and build tear -> roa -> aa every game, but I noticed that in a pro game there was a zilean who went roa -> morello
Is there a reason why tear isnt good on zil, or is it just that I have a different play style than the pro? Thanks
Morello gives you CDR, Seraph's does not. I don't main Zilean, but CDR seems a pretty core stat on him,
Well Roa is good on every mage like Zilean, makes him tanky and has more mana with AP. Tear goes into seraph's which makes him really hard to kill because of the shield AND his ultimate. They're both viable but Zilean doesn't need that much mana tbh, gives a bunch of AP though.

if you roa-morello you have more ap damage... mana pool, cdr, mana regen and healing reduction
Zilean needs CDR (morello) a lot, so you need to decide if you prefer roa or tear. I'm mostly going with tear at the moment, but I can see why roa might be better in some matchups, where you need to be a bit more tanky early.
tear is just too slow of a build and you lose a lot of momentum when building it, you need the cdr for mid game teamfights and waveclear as zilean.
