Fellow jungler's, this is a problem that no one seems to want to address. So i will.

Buffs / Camps Im not here to rant, im just going to lay out situations so people can understand when you **really **need a buff vs just taking it and at least letting us smite it in order to get the best use of it.

First of all let me tell you what the buffs do, if you already dont know.

  • Gromp- This guy when smite just gives a jungler a mini thornmail
  • Wolves-I usually smite this early game if its pretty even so that if for some reason Kindred decides shes going to take one of my camps for her mark, or just wants to do a LC$ big gank on mid then you can at least know.
  • Blue Buff- Now when i smite this i get 25% of my maximum mana back, if killed it gives you an increase mana regen.
  • Raptors - This camp simply gives my vision when smite
  • Red Buff- Gives you a slow, along with true damage tick that also heals you.
  • Krugs- This just lets me stun every 4th hit, also very good on aa based champions ex Kindred Udyr XinZhao

For the sake of completion I will add that smiting Krugs gives you major true damage on your next auto against a tower (in the mid game it's about 250 true damage).

Now lets address if you _really _ need it

If your an AP mid, then by all means my blue buff is your blue buff along with my raptors and wolves, this is especially good if we take mid before the 13-15 minute mark because a lot of times ill see people get an early snowball but cannot rotate/extend and die constantly.

If your a melee mid, then i'd **recommend **taking red buff and raptors along with wolves. Most of the melee mid champions usually have no version of cc there fore you're more susceptible to getting ganked by thier mid jungler and support a lot often even if you have escapes. With that being said un less rotating to a potential team fight, just stay back untill we start the mid game and dont DIE for free..

I just wanted to get this off my chest, because many of times is see the wrong champs taking buffs that they dont need.. Now i understand that this can very because if i had something like a Ezreal mid, then i wouldn't mind giving him my red/blue or both. However if you're behind you cant really expect me to give you buffs if you severely get outplayed every time or seem to be prone to getting ganked ( I've seen this before).

Also with the fact that from my previous thread http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/iIPNQMlP-psa-as-a-jungler-im-not-obligated-to-give-you-my-buffs people seemed to have perceived that im stingy with my buffs, when i really just wanted to address when you **really **need it and you just want it, because after all i just want to win i mean dont we all?

honestly, if you are in an ELO where you don't know who to give buffs to/not to, you should just take them yourself as you can't really rely on anybody.

See at first when i was level 0-30 i used to do that, however I've learned since placement matches that giving it to someone else is better. The only down side is that you'll come across these spoiled mid laners and they will demand a buff at times when they don't need it.

For example last game i played XinZhao , and i only played XinZhao because our Yasuo decided to first pick mid so im like well i should get a form of knock up that i can easily help him 2v1. Now hes playing vs a Vladimir and the Vladimir isn't even going ap yet, so i tell him to just farm and ill gank. The Yasuo over extends 3 times and gets Kindred fed. At this point were all telling Yasuo to safely farm, i told him to farm my raptors and my wolves, he starts to do that at first until he decided to try to 1v5 their team at dragon and after he died he instantly started blaming everyone and proceeded to take my jungle.

Experiencing this several times already i just play the game, i time my camps and take my main buffs and tried to ween him into relaxing by giving him red **EVEN **though he was behind. We still lost that game, but im sure we would have lost faster if i had instantly flamed him and tried to smite fight him for my camps.

Serious question: what issue are you actually addressing, is it whether or not laners need to take certain camps/buffs?

Yes.

You didn't address your feelings on taking camps like gromp or krugs, is that because you think that should be saved for the jungler?

I feel that if I am playing top or bot and my lane is shoved into their tower then it would be beneficial to take one of these camps rather than stand around waiting for the wave to be farmed so I can get an advantage. If the jungler is not near the camp anyways then I feel it wouldn't hurt them much.

As a mid laner, I also take the 3 small raptors a lot and leave the large, is this annoying as a jungler?

This is perfectly acceptable in high level play and is a normal occurrence. If the jungler is working on the opposite side of the map, you don't have any where safe to go, and you can get them then take them so they will respawn by the time the jungler does get to that side of the map. Most junglers do not mind sharing resources if they are any good at the role. A good jungler understands what resources he requires to be effective and donates any extra to the laners to make them MORE effective.

Yes. Don't do this. Please don't do this. Kill them all and let a new group respawn. The only exception is if I say I need a raptor buff to clear a ward I know the location of in which case leave it for me to at least smite and then it can die too.

By taking the whole thing you get more gold & exp. And junglers have to go around the map anyway so by the time i get there it will most likely already respawn.

The thing is that I can take the 3 smalls from mid lane while taking no damage. If I try to take the big as well, I use mana and take damage do I usually only do it when I have blue.

LICENSED HOOKER1 votes

Oh i see what you mean, i thought you ment as to take it while just clear the jungle. In your case i can understand but please take it after you've pushed mid lane

You did much better addressing an issue and presenting a valid perspective in this thread than in the previous one. Well done.

Your welcome. Your previous thread was very short sight and presented a very bad example for newer players to follow. Every player should agree wholeheartedly with everything you state in this thread however. You have earned a +1.

I generally play CC-tanks and use Tracker's Knife, so I values my smite buffs. I particularly, I find the buff from Raptors and Gromp to be extremely valuable.

Generally, my allies will leave the Raptors and Gromp to me if I ask them to. I don't care too much if my lanes take Wolves or Krugs (and it would be hypocritical considering how often I take minions from the lanes).

Red and Blue Buff I determine on a game-by-game basis depending on who I feel I can trust with them and who would make the most use of them.

As a mid, I don't really care if I don't get blue buff save for a few specific matches or on certain champions.

What I do care about, is if the enemy mid gets blue and bullies me hard because infinite mana and shorter cooldowns and I don't get any kind of help.
