The solution to the kog'maw conundrum
This is a proposed w change that would change kog from a adc/mage hybrid to a zoning adc that can lock down a location like baron/dragon pit or a turret that needs protecting
Kog was designed to be a glass cannon of a champ but there are better champs to do that with (draven, mf, vayne, etc) He is also meant to be anti tank but again, there are champs who are better (ashe's kiting, vayne, tristana's poke, etc). But I have an idea to make him, the zone lock down, team shreding, squishy af, machinegun that he would fit perfectly. So we all know kog has decent ap scaling and riot doesn't like that apparently but with out that ap, he has nothing special about his kit besides his ult. his q: basically an ezreal q that doesn't lower his cooldowns with a little armor/mr shred. His w: tristana passive is better. His e: this is just that one self peel tool, ashe passive is better. then his passive, does about as much dmg as you get from a jhin 4th shot but you have to die to use it [zombie-brand-mindblown] The one thing he had special about him was his rework w with the 5.0 as. I understand that this was not healthy because he could mow you down and then walk away.... this balance issue has already been addressed in other games: make the lawn mower immobile so you have a chance to run away. I.E. Bastion from overwatch, The XMG from call of duty advanced warfare. both of these have the highest damage output in their games but they sacrifice movement as a trade off. So... what can we pull from what other games have already learned: Insane damage is possible, just make it so you can't move. Make kogs w double his attack speed and give slight range increase. But, He can not move for the duration unless he cancels it, thereby removing the buffs. then, you can make his e matter much more because it would keep them in your territory so you can mow them down. and It would keep assassins at bay so he can kill them before they reach him. His counters would be champs like zed, ekko, yas, syndra, blitz, basically all the champs that counter him already. In addition to this, change his autos while he's w'ed and make them so he can change his target to anyone in his w range but they hold his fire until they leave his ult range. this would prevent him from needing to constantly reposition but would make your initial positioning all the more important because he would reveal himself as soon as he attacks, making him an easy target for a rengar or other assassin or burst mage. this would also make his counters be champs that can poke you from outside your w range (ziggs, xerath etc) These changes would make him fun to play with out building ap and would make him a very unique pick. This would also encourage the classic "protect the kog maw" comps that riot intended when they did the marksman rework all while pulling his strange kit together. Also, from a backstory perspective, Kog always complains about an "eternal hunger" and yet all his abilities involve regurgitation.... His w could be him pausing and connecting to the reaches of the void to pull all of this gunk out of a hole he creates inside him or beneath him, similar to a malzarar q....

Please realize this is a quick rundown and he would need balance changes beyond these for this to work in the actual game. This includes somehow nerfing his use of on hit items kind of how they nerfed his use of flat ad.
