Is it just me or does Orianna's Base Splash art ACTUALLY better than some of her skin

They updated her base art at some point, but they didn't update her old skins.

Bladecraft still looks great though.

They've not touched Orianna's skins except the full scale texture pass back in 2013 when they tweaked everyone's colors to match the updated Summoner's Rift. Every one of her skins, except for Dark Star, Heartseeker, and Winter need to be worked on and updated. This includes Bladecraft, which looks incredibly awkward with the pinkish hair, when the splash at current shows it as a real red. Aside from those 3 skins, the rest of her skins, including her classic, need a model update. She also needs a classic skin recall, which of course will carry over to her less-than-1350 cost skins, and a homeguard run animation. She'll then need splash updates on all skins except her classic and the newer skins. Other than that, she doesn't need much else.

No not completely, Heartseeker, Darkstar, and Winter wonderland is pretty good.

Orianna's base splash was updated with a bunch of other champs like Darius, J4, Morgana, Fiddlesticks, and a few others. That's why that splash's quality looks so much better compared to the rest.

Yeah, she just need a little polish and she'd be close to perfect. Her kit as aged very well. Her VO though has gotten out of sync with her lore though, it's too robotic for way they changed her lore to have her be a toymaker's daughter who basically replaced her entire body to become a robot.
