Toning down and fixing newer champion designs (Aatrox and Akali)
(I was gonna try and tackle Aphelios as well, but while I do understand what he does he's kind of an enigma and I don't quite get him enough to make designs around him)
Aatrox, the World Ender
Problems
- This is not Aatrox. Every single core aspect of Aatrox has been removed.
- Oldtrox was an AA champion, Aatrox is not.
- Oldtrox was reliant on lifesteal as his core mechanic, Aatrox is not.
- Oldtrox's teamfight style was diving into the enemy team to murder with reckless abandon, knowing he's going to get revived. Aatrox does not even have a revive.
- When he's allowed to have enough sustain to have a decent laning phase, the guy is just unbeatable in lane for most matchups.
- He falls off too hard in the late game.
Solution No. 1: Reworking Aatrox into an AA-Caster Hybrid, with aspects of new and old
- Attack speed per level increased from 2.5% to 3.5%
- Deathbringer Stance damage reduced from 5-12% max HP to 2.5-6% max HP.
- Deathbringer Stance minion healing increased from 25% damage dealt to 100% damage dealt.
- Deathbringer Stance no longer has a static CD. It now triggers on every 6/5/4 basic attacks (at levels 1, 7, 13), with sweet spot hits of the Darkin Blade against Champions counting as one attack.
- Darkin Blade bonus damage % per cast decreased from 25% to 17.5%.
- Darkin Blade sweet spots now apply on-hit effects and can critically strike for an additional 25% damage (35% with Infinity Edge).
- Umbral Dash once again has two charges.
- Umbral Dash no longer provides passive healing.
- World Ender no longer provides bonus attack damage or healing amplification.
- World Ender now passively reduces the cast time of the Darkin Blade by 25/37.5/50%.
- World Ender speed bonus changed from a decaying 60/80/100% boost to a constant 50% boost.
- World Ender active now sets Aatrox' attack range to 225 (regardless of whether Deathbringer Stance is active) and grants 40/50/60% attack speed for the duration. If he scores a takedown, he will score a kill.
Solution No. 2: Reworking Aatrox with a transformation system similar to Deathwing in HOTS, swapping between the Oldtrox one-handed Longsword and the Aatrox Greatsword.
- Destroyer (Greatsword) Form: A slow, heavy hitting juggernaut
- Passive, W, E unchanged
- Q base damage reduced from 10/30/50/70/90 to 10/20/35/55/80
- Slayer (Longsword) Form: More mobility, less damage, and much more lifesteal
- P - Blood Thirst: Every third basic attack deals (0.2 tAD) bonus physical damage and heals Aatrox for an equal amount.
- Q - Crippling Slash: Quickly ash out in a target direction, applying a basic attack with a bonus 10/15/20/25/30 (+.5 bAD) physical damage to all enemies in a 300 range, 60 degree cone. Units struck are slowed by 50% for 1 second.
- W - Chains of Blood: Lash chains of blood magic in a target direction. If an enemy is struck, they take 6/7/8/9/10 (+.02 AP)% of their maximum health as magic damage and become tethered to the spot where they were hit. Until they break the Tether, they are slowed by 25%. When they break the Tehter, Aatrox is healed for 15% of his missing HP.
- E - Umbral Flight: Swoop a fixed distance towards your cursor before arcing upwards and crashing to the ground. Enemies immediately underneath you are knocked up for 1 second while those in a larger radius are slowed by 50% for the same duration. All enemies struck take 20/40/60/80/100 (+.7 bAD) physical damage. 18/16/14/12/10 second CD.
- R - World Ender: Has four ranks, automatically learned at level 1. After a brief channel, Aatrox becomes unstoppable and takes to the skies, becoming untargetable for up to 3 seconds before crashing back to earth up to 300/700/1100/1500 units away from where he cast the ability. While in the sky, he has two abilities.
- Crash - Destroyer: Come down to earth at a target location in Destroyer Form, gaining 20/25/30% bonus AD and 50/60/70% self healing amplification, and a 30/40/50% movement speed bonus. Scoring a takedown refreshes the buff.
- Crash - Slayer: Come down to earth at a target location in Slayer form, gaining 30/50/70% attack speed, 50/60/70% bonus movement speed, and setting your attack range to 300. Scoring a takedown
Solution No. 3: Reimplement Oldtrox as a new champion and try to balance Aatrox with number tweaks, or do it the other way around.
Akali, the Rogue Ninja
Problems
- Her damage isn't really gated by anything later on in a match.
- It isn't gated by CD's since her primary damage sources (Passive and Q) have no CD's.
- It isn't gated by Energy since a leveled, adept Akali refunds enough energy from everything
- Her kit isn't built to Burst or do DPS, but is instead build to do Burst per Second, which is just dumb.
Solution: Slow down Akali's damage. Instead of gearing her towards getting in, instakilling, and getting out, she now goes in, deals high DPS for a time, and gets out.
- Assassin's Mark damage lowered from 39-180 (+.6 bAD) (+.5 AP) to 20-120 (+.4 bAD) (+.3 AP)
- Akali can store up to 3 charges of Assassin's Mark.
- Akali gains 20% attack speed while she has at least one charge of Assassin's Mark.
- Assassin's Mark heals Akali for 30% of the bonus damage dealt.
- Five Point Strike CD increased from 1.5 seconds to 8/7/6/5/4 seconds.
- Twilight Shroud is once again a smaller circle rather than a larger ring.
- "Shroud Blink" re-implemented.
- Twilight Shroud no longer refunds 80 energy.
- Twilight Shroud speed bonus increased from 20/25/30/35/40% to 50%.
- Shroud duration increased to 7 seconds at all ranks.
- Shuriken Flip has been reworked into a subability of Twilight Shroud (a different ability that takes up the W slot while Twilight Shroud is active, only usable while Twilight Shroud is in use). Can be cast once per shroud, but is reset on kill.
- First cast - "Shuriken Flip": Jumping backwards a short distance, Akali throws a Shuriken that deals 15/20/25/30/35 (+.1 AP) magic damage to the first target struck and marks them for 4 seconds.
- Second cast - "Follow Through": causes Akali to dash to the target and hit them with a basic attack.
- New E - Kickflip: Jump to a target enemy (300 range), stunning for 0.1 seconds and dealing 15/20/25/30/35 (+.15 bAD) physical damage before jumping 250 units towards your cursor. If you jump towards Twilight Shroud, Akali instead jumps 500 units away. 12/11/10/9/8 second CD, 40 Energy.
- Perfect Execution removed. Replaced with her old ultimate, Shadow Dance. Now has a static 3 second CD between uses. Now always lands you 250 units past your target (unless that would take you through a wall).
Her VO also needs some work, which I'll post in the Story, Art and Sound board when I finish making notes on it.
