Is ThreshCrank still viable?

I haven't been able to find any videos of ThreshCrank after the Rift's visual update. Are we still able to do it? Mainly, it's like this. Pick Thresh and Blitzcrank down Bot Lane. Thresh lays down his lantern and Blitzcrank goes into the lantern (so he gets the shield, though that's not really the point of doing this). When Blitzcrank fires off his Q, he immediately clicks the lantern before the Q lands and he goes towards Thresh -- bringing the victim of Blitzcrank's Q, if any, with him. In order to prevent the victim from getting away, Blitz uses his E and Thresh his Q and E (possibly R, if really needed) to very likely get a kill on the victim. The reason I ask is because I feel like I remember that Blitzcrank got a patch awhile ago (like Season 5, maybe?) that prevents this, but I'm also not sure if there was.

Can it still be done? Yes. Is it a viable strategy? Not if you intend on climbing very high. The combo can be seen a mile away and their entire strategy denied, though many low elo player may lack this awareness and anticipation.

With blitz, he launches his Q. Wherever he is when that Q hits, is where that person will fly to. They fixed a bug where if you pull someone in the half second before they backed, they would be pulled all the way to where the blitz was when he launched the pull.
