5.4 Jungle vs Duo top

The jungle experience is way too slow in 5.4. Duo top can get to level 6 at the same time as a good clearing jungler can while potentially shutting down the experience of the solo top laner. Not to mention if the jungler unsuccessfully ganks then it slows the experience gaining process down even further.

TBH jungling seems like more work than is necessary. I understand that some will argue that jungling is necessary in order to control objectives but that would still be possible, I propose that the jgler would go to lane till you reach lvl6, then go back to jungling, ganking, and taking objectives at lvl 6 when the clear time is faster and easier.

Is this viable?

No. While duo top can happen it ends up drastically slowing down gold for your team. This will easily put you 1-2k behind in gold. It also opens up the enemy jungle to take your buffs, deep ward and get picks on any type of roam with little to no risk.

I don't see why not. Duo top can easily beat a jungling team in a number of ways. You can deny farm to the top laner forcing the jungler to come to lane or reaping experience while the enemy top layer gets none. Both get no cs but that can be made up past lvl 6 by having a superior level you can get easy kills off the top laner then one can roam while the other farms cs. Its a perfectly viable strategy. Everyone just sticks to the meta established in season 1 . but the recent updates are forcing things to change.

^ this. The duo top may have to share cs or only 1 person gets it but the enemy laner also doesn't get any. Plus the jungler will most likely spend a lot of time coming to your lane which means the other lanes don't have to worry about banks so much.

I agree with you guys. If we were in season 4 still where the experience was easier in the jungle as well as the clear times then I would say keep on jungling but that is not the case right now. The experience and clear times are far too slow. Sometimes I get to a lane and the enemy champ is at like level 7 and I am still at level 4 because of failed ganks. It would have been more efficient to duo lane and then gank at 6 where the success rate would be higher for a kill.

If you take GP10 runes and a support item, like coin - you don't have to even cs the lane.

When a team is doing duo top, the jungler should never go top. What they need to do is farm enemy jungle, get early dragon, and chaingank mid and bot. Top may lose cs because they are essentially hugging turret entire early game and may even lose turret early, but as long as they make sure not to give any kills they will level up faster. By mid game, the free dragon's, extra gold/xp advantage, and unanswered gank pressure mid/bot usually means that the team without a jungler is going to suffer the rest of the game.

If the top and jg know what they are doing and how to react to duo top, it's a free win 100% of the time.

I don't think I have ever lost a game where we had a jungler and they didn't. And I was the amumu jgl just last night in one of those games, we all know his early clear hurts.

It's not the clear speed. It's the gold. Your team collectively gains more gold than the enemy team if you are clearing 3 waves and your jungle half as opposed to just 3 lanes.

But you are reducing the top lane champs gold by having duo pressure in lane. Also, the gold difference doesnt matter if you are using the gold to buy health pots to sustain the early jg. I am not saying stay in top lane all game but stay till you get your ult then roll out. If you gank during that first 7:30-8:00 minute time period then you are going to lose gold as well. It would be nice to have hard numbers to back this up but I would guess that the early gold loss difference is minimal.
