Something interesting about high elo games

I normally don't make a habit of watching high elo streams, and I'll admit I actually don't know who this person is.. I don't really follow high elo, because the gameplay is so different from where I'm at in terms of the coordination and focus, that a lot of the aspects are not applicable to my elo. However, on a whim, I decided to check out this particular game when it popped up on my youtube.

Two things were clear right off the bat. First, zero rage. The only thing that was said in chat was spell timers. The fact Kass got a FB in the jungle before minions spawned would tilt me off the face of the planet if I was that LB, but he barely even reacted.. even when the Kass outtraded and killed the LB, he was totally calm and collected when I would be beyond tilted and pissed.

Secondly, there wasn't any feeding at all - almost all of the kills only came via jungle presence, and the players knew when to back off and not die.

The CS'ing wasn't that spectacular compared to my own games, and the mechanics weren't off from what I do as LB, but dear freaking god, if I could have teams like this, where it's not allchat rage from 5 minutes in, constant feeding, constant raging, this game would be so much more enjoyable.

I don't mind losing a game where it's clear I messed up and made mistakes. I DO mind losing when it's because someone decides to AFK because someone takes J4's farm in top lane, or someone is too busy typing and complaining in allchat and misses CS or a free kill.

Simply put, "proper" League is very meticulous. A lot of people need to realize the game, played correctly, is very logical and follows a consistent flow of trying to snowball an advantage. Of course, the majority of League games are nonstop clown fiestas where players make careless mistakes and just try to pad their KDA ratings.

Night and day? Nope. There is no comparison. High-level League is its own entity.

how to climb 101: if you can ensure you have <2 deaths out of lane every game, and ensure that you wont feed at any point all game, your win rate will significantly improve. You've now eliminated 1/5 of potential to feed the enemy team, and in this snowball meta, that's incredibly important

people actually know how to play safe and not feed in higher elos. They get cs when they can in a terrible matchup and they survive. That's something that many players can't claim to be able to do reliably, myself included

TBH, that only goes so far when you're below plat or so. I'm not saying I'm a great player, but it's rare I die more than once in lane

I make it my own goal to only take favorable trades in lane, not die, and if I do die, I ensure it won't happen again.

It doesn't matter how well I play when one player is only 20% of their team. There is too much RNG in shit tier elo where if you feed the enemy champion 3-4 kills in laning phase (Vayne, Darius, Yasuo, etc), it's pretty much done, since not only is that champion going to completely dominate teamfights, it also causes every other lane to start flaming in all chat.

in higher elos, people know how to play safer, and know that hardcore flaming and tilting is just going to make you and your team play worse. There's certainly still feeding though, and there's certainly still flaming. Just less of it generally, and of a different kind.

Also in like master/challenger, pretty much everyone knows each other because there are so few people there. Flaming someone is a terrible idea when you're probably going to play dozens of games with them.

I don't see that much flaming in lower elo when I relax on my smurf

in d5+ they definitely like to ego.

Also int if they're sensitive enough

All chat raging stems all the way up to D2 D1 I believe

good luck getting through everything

if you duo it might reduce 1 other person starting shit. Just make sure your duo doesn't retaliate to a comment as well.

You didn't look very hard. ;)

There was a little bit of raging on there as well as a bit of swearing too (for example Morgana had a few spicy comments) - higher elos aren't immune to a bit of toxicity as I have seen in quite a few streams. But, this was a lower toxicity game for a winning side, generally. I observed that the Leblanc player didn't make much of an effort to check chat often. Instead he focused more on the game at hand and relied a bit more on the mini-map (e.g., check his eye movements which were tracking from the middle of the screen to the bottom right corner regularly, the lack of chat coming up and the lack of his responses to what was in chat). A little bit of attention to the right things can really help one's game.
