Why Do Mages Never Go OOM Anymore?

There's like, 2 mages that actually have mana issues anymore.

Syndra presses Q everytime it's off cooldown, uses W and E every chance she gets, and she never gets low on mana after her first back.

Orianna throws that ball all around the map without her pool dipping below half. The only way she runs out is by spamming W.

Ahri throws Q after Q after Q and still somehow has the mana to full combo you whenever she feels like it.

Anivia, fucking Anivia, is the worst by far. Sure she builds mana, sure she has a tear, but this bitch can leave her ult on for almost an entire teamfight and never even have to think about running out. And her bases are so damn high that she has no trouble dealing massive damage with <40 AP.

Xerath autos one minion every now and then and then proceeds to "interact" with you from the far side of the damn lane.

Ziggs only even dips below half if he throws his full combo, just waveclearing and poking he may as well be manaless.

Kassadin has a mana refund built in to his W, and he builds mana. But he is one of the very, very few champions left with actual mana problems.

Viktor does run OOM eventually, but since just his E clears an entire wave in one shot, it's pretty much irrelevant.

Annie has a full refund on her Q, so she never even uses mana at all in lane unless she's getting ganked.

Vel'Koz can use his Q and W to instaclear waves at a pretty middling cost, but he is never really in danger of running OOM.

Aurelion Sol doesn't even need to use mana for his waveclear, but if he does it's pretty costly.

Taliyah used to have basically infinite mana, until Riot made her Q cost fucking 90 mana per cast.

Karthus only really struggles with mana if he's retarded and leaves his W on.

Malzahar running out of mana lul.

Veigar actually does have trouble with mana, as he pretty much has to use Q constantly to get more of those sweet sweet stacks.

Brand has high costs and uses multiple spells to trade, this guy actually has to watch his mana pool a lot. Now we're talking.

Lux, poor Lux. 130 mana for E, her bread and butter spell. This thing costs more mana than her ultimate, and it isn't even that good at clearing waves. It kills casters only if you're ahead in levels, and never does more than half of a melee's HP. It's also her only poke tool, and has the lowest cooldown of her abilities. Lux is one of the only champions in the game, let alone mages, that has such terrible mana problems.

Fiddlesticks gets like one combo out of his entire pool, use it wisely.

syndra has kinda high mana costs early, q,w,e all lvl 1 will half her mana pool with one rotation.

Because the game is so fast paced now that sitting in lane with no mana just isn't viable. Waveclear and paper towers combined with extra jungle xp causes the disadvantage from being oom to be too great.

A while ago one could just farm for 5 minutes with auto attacks while both midlaners were oom and the jungler was always 1 or 2 levels behind laners so couldnt just show up to solo kill you.

It's all about learning how to control your mana and knowing when to use spells and when to not. Yes Anivia can just leave her ultimate up for most of a team fight but that isn't something she can even think of doing until far into Mid game where she has fully stacked item 3027 item 3040 until then she has to be careful with her mana usage and even then, depending on the situation she might even need blue if the enemy is pushing hard (or the enemy has baron).

Its funny how the one champion that you say has terrible mana problems is the champion you play the most (from what it seems). Lux's E has a very high mana cost because it can be a very strong poke tool. It's really hard to dodge a Lux E when she can instantly pop it before it even reaches the area and it puts her passive on you for even more poke. Now I'm not saying that it's undodge-able but its really hard to dodge unless that Lux is just to predictable or just bad. Also besides for her E, her other abilities are generally lowish, you have 1 skill that is a flat 60 mana, and 1 skill that starts off at 50 and maxes at 70 so thats probably why her E is much higher, as some other mages have abilities that are 80-100 on basic abilities (some even on multiple abilities).

Also both Brand and Lux who are the 2 mages you said take the most mana starved basically, they're both played more support and supports don't really have mana problems anymore anyways. I know that both of them (same with Morgana) are mid laners but all 3 of them are basically played mostly as support now.

Really wanted to down vote you but this is the true statement as a fiddle main. Up- voted just because you told fiddle like he really is

Because Ahri is garbage for the rest of the game? Buff Ahri's damage and make it as strong as ADC and it will be fine for them to remove lost chapter.

If you think that mana is too generous in this game, I recommend that you go play Paragon.

One rotation late game and you're OOM. The rest of the fight is just you basic attacking until you can maybe use one more ability.

Trust me, if I had to choose between abilities taking skills or them costing a lot of mana to use, I'd go with the skills option.

I'd love to know how you can leave Karthus's W on

I have mana troubles on corki and gangplank sometimes but besides that mana seems to be fine.

I disagree with your statement about Lux. Just stop spamming your spells. If it's that big of a problem for you, build morellos or something. Whenever I take Lux mid, I don't even build that shit on her. I go echo into deathcap. She's fine.
