Opening chests when owning all champions sucks big time and discourages getting (buying) more of 'em

Would it be too much asked to make chests always give something you don't already have in loot or otherwise own. Feels like throwing cash to flames when busing RP to get chests and then you are handed champion shards when you have owned all champions for three years straight.
