@Lowbo, unintentionally nerfing Nasus with the sterak gage nerf.

Hello friends!

I’m Lowbo, a designer on the Gameplay Systems team, and I’m here to talk to you about some changes to Fighter items coming to PBE, intended for release in 8.12.

Our goal with these changes is to give fighters some tools they can use to carry in a wider variety of game states than they can on live. Currently, a fed fighter is generally restricted to carrying via splitpushing and skirmishing, and most fall off by the lategame. Even when they can, the path to success for some is to build pretty tanky, even if ahead. That may be effective, but isn’t the experience many players of those champs are looking for.

Some changes that should help out Fighters are already on PBE and are shipping in 8.11: Changes to Last Whisper and its upgrades, Blade of the Ruined King, Bloodthirster, Maw of Malmortius, and Guardian Angel. These changes are supplementary to the 8.11 changes.

We have some new items, and some changes to existing items:

Spear of Shojin

This item is intended to help champions that build a lot of AD rather than defensive items survive in the middle of teamfights. A lot of champions are capable of bursting one enemy, but the often sacrifice their life to do so. This item will offer survivability in that scenario, enabling them to escape or begin attacking the next target. The range for activation is pretty small, so we’re not expecting this item to be good for most Marksmen. This icon is temporary - new one coming soon!

Atma's Reckoning

A familiar face, in a different form. Heavier fighters are generally forced to stop scaling their offense to build survivability. This item will help them remain a big threat throughout the whole game, trading off some survivability to do so. Enjoy my designer art icon for now, a new icon is coming soon.

Sterak's Gage

50% Base AD >>> 50% Base AD as Bonus AD

The way Sterak’s Gage is currently built, it’s either balanced on Triforce champions and weak on everyone else, or balanced on most champions but overpowered on Triforce champs. Breaking this synergy allows Sterak’s to become a situational item for a much wider variety of champions.

Next, some changes to the Hydra items. Fighter builds are some of the most expensive in the game, and the Hydra items are a big part of that. Due to Fighters’ traditional lack of scaling, they have had to have extreme spikes on two items. Now that we are giving them some better lategame tools, shouldn’t spike as hard - and we can take steps to address the pain point of having to build such expensive items.

Ravenous Hydra Total Cost: 3500 >>> 3250 Build Path: Tiamat + Vamp Scepter + Pickaxe + 525g >>> Tiamat + Vamp Scepter + Long Sword + 800g AD: 80 >>> 70

Titanic Hydra Total Cost: 3500 >>> 3250 Build Path: Tiamat + Jaurim’s Fist + Ruby Crystal + 700g >>> Tiamat + Giant’s Belt + 1050g AD: 40 >>> 30

That’s it for now! Thanks for reading, and happy playtesting! Questions, comments, and concerns are much appreciated, and I’ll be doing as much as I can to be in the thread today and chat.

Everything you said was contradictory , you want Top laner to not be forced to build straight tank but at the same time you're nerfing top laner items and adding items that does not scale well with 75% of the champion pool I play except for maybe fiora and in case you didn't know none of the new items are decent with Nasus and if it's not all you nerfed sterak gage, the only decent bruiser item on Nasus.

@Lowbo you and your "Gameplay Systems team" are the most contradictory people that I have seen on the earth

and now i won't be able to play him anymore because you unintentionally nerfed him and buffed all the top laners that are virtually better.

I know you need some example and explanation or some simulation where X play Y and A build Z because you guys main ADC and doesn't play Top and have virtually no experience on this, but you guys you won't even listen.

I'm still waiting for Nasus to get reworked but for the time being you might as well revert all the nerf you did on him, those nerf were aiming at Jungle Nasus where he could permanently farm his jungle with no downside, with the jungle change , (tankier minon and longer respawn time) that did the job but you kept the nerf you done on him because you forgot about him.

Well you can use conquer, get triforce, then go full tank after. The 20% true damage conversion can help make up for the steracks nerf.

And btw you don’t have to build steracks on nasus every single game, most of the time I get resistances after I get triforce instead of steracks. To me steracks is currently more of a situational item on nasus, I will get it if I am ahead, to help push my lead with more damage and a shield. But if I am behind I will get resistances instead so I don’t die fast in a fight.

you need Grasp or phase rush more than you need conqueror. it's not about killing a target, it's about either eating bullet until you can land a Q or phase rush to them. conqueror is situational just like klepto is.

You're just proving my point bro,tri force/ice born + straight tank every game, not only it's boring but some champions are allowed to have different itemization, they can build dps/bruiser items and out perform you with your regular build ( triforce/iceborn+ straight tank) and will obliterate you if you build an extra dps item. Some champion can build straight tank and out perform you as well.

Nasus is a pos single target dps champion with no mobilty and a soft CC easily cleansed or countered by phase rush

Well then maybe go full ap/ tanky ap build? The steracks nerf is mainly to tank nasus. So you can go a bunch of other builds and do better than tank nasus.

I personally think that conq nasus is good, the extra true damage can help you deal more damage if the enemy is stupid enough to walk into AA range. Sure conq and Klepto are situational, but there are a bunch of situations where they can be better than grasp or phase.

Are you doing a turret taker build or a team fight build?

Problem is that Conqueror is bad on Nasus unless he get's a lot of jung pressure top so he can get ahead which can still lose you the game if the enemy bot lane gets fed b/c your jungler is focusing on you.

The problem with Nasus mostly, right now, is that there is a metric crap ton of free true damage that can be abused on other champs who's kits scale heavily with AD making Conqueror oppressive as hell against him. So the ult change he got last season to give him more resistances is essentially worthless. Personally I would prefer they revert that change and give him back the damage he lost seeing how the resistances mean nothing against all the true damage floating around. Jax, Irelia, Fiora, Tryndamere, Riven and many others have such great synergy with Conqueror and their kits have high base damages or AD scaling so, when paired with Conqueror, the resistance mean nothing on Nasus or other tanky fighters. Hell even Illaoi, Garen and Darius can make good use of conqueror. Problem is Nasus is always left in bad state any time he is slightly strong in solo queue as most champion can abuse him easily even when they aren't made indirectly strong through certain runes or items.

I see a lot of QQ here. The Steraks change is good and opens up the item for a lot more champs. It's not just all about Nasus lmao don't be selfish.

Nasus does not need steraks to function.
