Kalista's ult is unintuitive for the hapless bullet
While it's obvious enough what the ult will do when the support (or whoever) gets sucked in for Kalistacannon (targeting indicator: arrow showing direction, circle showing detonation. It's intuitive that you will fire that way and cause AoE effect), the way it's actually activated isn't really clear the first time it's done.
For one thing, it took me a while to notice that ranged champions actually bounce back slightly after impact. I thought it was just lag, or buggy movement. Nothing in the way the targeting decal is framed indicates that his will happen, nor does it indicate where you'll end up.
I also didn't know how to actually FIRE the first few times. It looks like an ability. Pressing my ability buttons didn't work. Right-clicking didn't work (because the "launch" part hadn't activated yet). Left-clicking didn't work. I was at a complete loss, pressing buttons randomly, and that meant that I fired in completely the wrong direction.
Lastly, even after learning the mechanics of the ability, I have no idea when launching actually becomes available. It seems there's a short startup period after getting sucked in before you can fire again, but there's no indication of how long that startup period is. When I look at the landing circle of the targeting indicator, I see that lines and partitions seem to appear at fixed intervals, but I don't know what that means. Do I launch when all 4 are present? Does the ult end when all 4 are present? They're just sort of... there. They don't help me at all because they don't tell me what they do.
Can Kalista's bondmate get some QoL buffs? It would be really, really nice, especially considering that we can't control when we get picked up. It's unpleasant.
