Why does tank ekko still work?

I have fought tank Ekko before the patch and it was at least counterable because Ekko couldnt jump in and out of combat repeatedly. Now even after the assassin update I am seeing tank Ekko, but now it is worse because he has high damage, and can basically teleport all over our team dodging skill shots jumping in and out of combat while taking almost no damage from skill shots that do hit. On top of that he annihilates squishes. The items being: item 3025 item 3026 item 3111 item 3157 item 3065 item 3030 that the enemy ekko built. I'm just wondering where the nerf to tank Ekko that Riot said was the reason for him being in the assassin update is, because tank Ekko seems to have been buffed(although I will admit that the guy playing the Ekko I am talking about was very skilled, and thus it probably takes some skill to pull off).

Hey, at least that build actually HAS AP.

Tank Ekko still works because of his kit. They just changed the ap ratio to be more beneficial after the rework to encourage an ap build.

a funny way to nerf a tank build by buffing ap ratios of the champion without touching its tankyness

@Bad arcade kitty, I agree but if they touch his base stats AP Ekko suffers as well and since hes a community favorite to play they don't want him to fall into the urgot zone. The only way they would be able to take away tank ekko would be changing his kit (or reworking tanky items, and that fucks an entire class of champions), and as I said hes a community favorite so there would be way to much uproar.

To be fair, that isn't overly tanky as far as old tank Ekko was concerned. The point of nerfing tank Ekko wasn't to make it unplayable, but to put it in a balanced state where AP ekko had actual advantages over it and there were ways of dealing with Tank ekko. As it stands tank/tanky ekko can be dealt with and doesn't have anywhere near the burst that an AP ekko has. He might kill squishies, but no more so than a Jax will, while being no tankier than a Jax. On top of that he is much easier to itemize against than a Jax and doesn't have the splitpush power of one, which excuses his superior mobility and safety.
