Does your performance in game affect your rank after promos?

I've heard about people skipping ranks because they've played well. What is the determining factor for this? I've been focusing on ranked a lot lately and I get an S score in about 60/70% of my games. My deaths are usually quite low. 1-3 and my kills/cs/tower kills are often substantially higher.

Or is this determined purely by how quickly you rise in LP under each division? If that's the case I'm screwed as I dont have a 100% win rate.

Cheers for your answers guys!

To skip a division its based on your MMR, which is hidden, sites like op.gg or lolking have an estimate of this hidden MMR but is by no means accurate.

so this is how it works say gold V is 1450 mmr on average and gold 3 is 1600 on average, if your climbing and your MMR is 1550+ basically in the high end of G3 you will skip gold4.

as a safe identification if your earning close to 30lp per win chances are you may skip a division or two.

for example i went 1-9 in my flex placements and got placed into B5, so far i've played 20 something games and am in B1, i skipped bronze 4 and got put into bronze 3 i then skipped bronze2 and got put into bronze1
