It never feels good when I actually climb a tier or division...

If you ever played Dark Souls or even if you haven't. The game is hard, and you die to a boss 100 times, but when you do beat it the euphoria you get out of it is priceless. You feel proud and good about yourself that you did it. It's the same for a lot of other games.

When I finally reached Gold in League for the first time after playing for 24 hours straight no sleep. It didn't actually feel good. I didn't feel rewarded or excited because I knew majority of the games I won was because I had good players, even though I did pretty well myself. The only times i felt super excited was when there were games I carried super hard which was rare. There is no regard for individual effort. I wanna climb because I deserve it, not because I got players who didn't feed and were carry able or were just actual good players.

I rather Gain 1-10 LP every game for individual efforts If i earned it and lose 1-10 LP for playing horribly. At least I know I could have done better or Be proud of myself I got 1 LP for having good cs and feel really rewarded. I hate when I gain LP because I got carried for playing badly and I hate when I lose LP when I am playing well and everyone else plays terribly.

P.S. The LP numbers I gave are random. Idk what the actual gain and loss would be on a actual system like that.

This isn't an individuals game. Its a team game. Darks Souls is an individual game where it pushes you past what you think you can do with how hard it is. League isn't. It puts you against players of close skill against each other. They aren't some raid boss you have to beat. They are merely the basic monsters.

You won't see a system like that here in league. it has no play because its about the team and not the individual.

  1. I pointed out dark souls because of how rewarding you feel for beating a boss NOT the mechanics of the game from what you are saying.

  2. Team work only works if everyone is on the same page and that is never the case when you are with 4 random people every game. Even pro teams don't do well because they haven't adjusted to there team members as was the case of few NA teams this season.

Uhh.

It's still a team game.

Youre doing some meaningless verbal gymnastics here.

So...it is not a team game? lol.

Nonsense point/thread. Time wasters 2k16.

Individual play and initiative matters and is important, but at the end of the day it is a.....

team game! I don't understand what mental vacancy you have that you can't accept that.

What you are saying is basically make Lol easier, not making it more rewarding. Besides it is a team game man.

Saying "It's a Team Game" sounds more like a excuse then a actual cause. It's the same as people who use "Family" as excuses for not doing something and as any economist would say it's bogus and anything BUT a excuse.

it is a cause. Its a team game and therefore individual results matter very little in moving up. I don't really get your example and how it pertains to league being a team game.

Also to point back at your OP, Gold itself isn't a real accomplishment. The average LoL player is about silver 4. Meaning gold is only slightly above average. It really isn't a huge accomplishment in LoL. Hell Plat isn't even an accomplishment anymore. Diamond? Better get top 3 divisions and then we'll talk.

It also feels more rewarding because you got to grind against 1 better opponent. You got to learn patterns and how to work around them. You feel the accomplishment because you finally got their pattern down enough to beat them. A better example in LoL would be to kill Faker in a 1v1. That is more on the same field in terms of accomplishment to your example.

Shouldn't you be in Diamond before you say "Diamond? Better get top 3 divisions and then we'll talk." and yes it's a Team game, but "Being a team" and "Acting like a Team" are two different things. If you played any sports competitively then you know what I mean. Sure it's a team game, but especially in lower elo and sometimes higher no one acts like a team player. Everyone is on a solo mission. Just because the game is a "Team Game" doesn't mean players act like teammates.

Just because they don't act like it doesn't mean you should get rewarded for playing well. There is a reason people are at lower elos and thats one of them. Not playing like a team is a fault in players and not the game/system.

I'm not sure what being a certain league or division has to do with anything. I've always been above average at this game (statistically). To give the best example on how big of a difference there is you need to know runescape a bit. In runescape it took as much xp to get from lvl 1 to lvl 93 as it did to get from 93 to 99. This is where it comes from because the top 2 divisions are actually much better than the bottom 2. I compare Bronze 5 to Diamond 4 to the lvls 1 - 93. You can ask many high elo players and you'll get a very similar answer.

I've been feeling the same way lately about the game, but I think its for different reasons.

You mentioned that it feels bad to lose lp when you do well, because of your team, and in a similar way gain lp when you're carried. Your main point being that you feel as though you want to be judged more on your performance, than the overall win or loss. Perhaps even some sort of combination of the two, points for a win and bonus +/- for performance in the game.

I've been trying to get some traction on a post where I make some major suggestions for fixing the ladder system. As I feel like the ranking system itself, mmr, the saftey nets of 5 tiers, are all creating an inaccurate ladder system. For instance when you go from bronze 1 to silver 5 it feels like you actually got demoted back to bronze 4. I think the ranking system itself is creating these headaches for players.

I address ideas for exactly what you're talking about in my post. Please throw in your opinion and see if we can get some traction on it.
