What if Koggy's W range were passive?

Maybe all of it.

Maybe just part of it.

Either way, it would drastically improve Koggy's ability to be relevant when he isn't using his W active. Because Koggy is VERY irrelevant right now if he isn't using his W active. This would make the laning phase quite a bit less punishing for him, which would help a ton.

And just to clarify, I don't mean replace Icathian Surprise. I mean W would have a passive that grants some amount of additional attack range as you level it up.

Getting rid of the scaling and changing bio-arcane barrage to his passive would be a good change, imo. start it at 6%, then increase it by 2 at levels 6, 11, and 16.

You can even keep Icathian surprise by making it a stealth that deals AoE magic damage and grants bonus attack speed when you come out of it.

Because then they might as well change his base range and nerf him in other areas.

Why? Icathian surprise is, honestly, a lackluster passive and most of kogs kit is much more suited for a mid laner than an ADC.

By changing B-AB to the passive and reworking icathian surprise into some sort of mobility with stealth and burst damage (think twitches stealth + AP scaling magic damage when you come out of stealth to nearby enemies) kog gains more ADC tools while retaining his iconic ability to increase his range massively. You just have the range scale with level like tristana; 14 per level, you cap it out (210) at level 16 or so.

So give him Twitch's stealth and Tristana's passive.

Wow, that's not shit game design at all.

Such black and white. Much wow.

Proposed change is "basic attacks deal an addition %health and increase range based on level" His W, columbo.
How do you retain the theme of icathian surprise? Make it a stealth and give it some AoE magic damage when you come out (think sions W).

Or are you one of those kids who thinks koggles is OP and isnt mediocre right now? Because koggles is in a place. hes not bad, but hes not good either. Hes VERY boring to play as and against.

I'm not fond of his current passive, but the reason they can give him as much late game power as he has currently is because of his bad early. Giving him the passive would end up resulting in an overall nerf to his power because of how it would likely increase his power throughout the game.

Koggy actually lost his hyper-carry curve when Riot removed the scaling damage from his W.

He plateaus mid-game now and drops off late.

I disagree personally, now a large part is improper builds. He's on-hit rather than tri-force like he used to be. He scales harder into late game now from my experience

And unless you build Koggy balls to the walls glass cannon AP Marksmen, his damage really doesn't scale much once Rageblade and Wit's End are finished. It's partly an issue with itemization. Kog just doesn't have very many OnHit items to pick from. And the strongest one available is locked behind a smite-wall that Kog can't really breach.

Now, if there were a non-jungle item that had the Phantom Hit passive and a nice chunk of OnHit magic damage? Then I suspect Kog would be able to scale strongly into late game.

Personally I happily take him jungling, krug buff and his W give him great clear ( if poor ganks) and ill take smite into lane to be completed after Bork and the duo smite on drag :) slow start but monster late

Also i've read on hits will be rare now that they are almost entirely unbalanceable on Kog

Maybe Riot shouldn't have fucked up Kog's kit, then?

I like where he's at, he's just something new, thats always hard to balance. See Frost Queens

I have no idea why you decided to revive this topic, but okay.

Just because something is new doesn't make it harder to balance. Nothing about Kog's kit was particularly new. There have been items, abilities, and Innates that multiply OnHit effects for quite some time now. What appears to have happened is that Riot drastically underestimated how much of a weakness being effectively unable to kite is.

Don't hop on the boards much sorry. He was new, they haven't done something that way before and don't have a lot to draw upon for ways to fix it because of that. The kit isn't the big change, its the W. Lots of new stuff there. The 5 atk speed is way out there and combining that with things like runaans makes it crazy. And its strong, but his win rate is low which also makes balancing hard. In reality he's pretty strong, I think people just don't know how to play him as squish as he is, and play around his strengths, weaknesses, because of how odd he is. And riot's fine with that because he's always been odd and had low play rates.

They think hes weak right now, and they plan to buff him. Personally I think once he sees pro play and people get REALLY good, hell get nerfed and see better play, and win rates :)

I actually like this quite a bit...the frequent range changing he has is awkward to play with.

Voidpuppy.

I actually like that one.

He would be too op if he gained range without having to activate bio arcane barrage. I'm just hoping that Riot reverts the changes they made to Kog last october, as I don't at all like Kog in his current state.
