High elo players, I'm looking for tips!

KnightOfEloHell··5 votes·1,211 views

I'm in Bronze, but don't believe in Elo Hell.

I WILL ONLY PLAY MORDEKAISER AND OLAF, I'M A A ONE TRICK PONY WHO CAN ONLY PLAY THOSE 2 CHAMPS.

I like to play safe early, sustain lane, hyper focus cs and objectives, poke, and all in when they are low. I ward more nowadays, but tend to die when I go to ward deep with pinks.

Because I sustain and won't die, I get constant ganks and focused hard early. I build resistances when needed, but tend to lean towards damage.

Any tips on how to raise elo?

Hmmmmm, first tip.. stop playing morde.

Okay second tip, Olaf is a good champion to climb with.

  • Max Q most of the time, sometimes you can put 3 points into Q and then max E depending on the matchup (like they have ALOT of armor and you just want to do quick trades). Put 2 points into W if you think you'll need the sustain cause youll get harassed too much.
  • Build sunfire first item against hard champions that does a lot of damage. That particular does AD damage and are in melee range (Renekton, Wukong, Irelia)
  • Build Hexdrinker or Spectre Cowl early if youre facing a rough AP champion (Ryze-Rumble)
  • Build Black Cleaver if youre confident that you'll win and want to snowball. Core item, you should have it second or even first buy.
  • Your build should be a good mixture of damage (2 at most) and tank items, the longer you can stay alive the longer you can do damage.
  • Learn to last hit, try to have 100 by 10 mins.. reality check though more like 75 by 10 mins. Dont worry to lose cs... CAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO DIE FOR CS. (Even I make that mistake sometimes here in Plat/Diamond)
  • Remember to freeze the lane whenever the chance occurs. So basically if you can do this without getting harassed, always make sure there are more minions hitting against your minion BUT NEVER letting them get to turret, so you can always freeze right infront of the turret (make it easier for your jungler to gank, and if youre ahead.. you can just deny farm and experience if they want to farm) Search it up if you dont know how to freeze, it will come in handy later on after you rank up
  • Dont hesistate to call your jungler if you need help. AND NEVER LET THEM FREEZE ON YOU -.-, if they are freezing and you cant stop it alone, force your jungler to help you break the freeze by pushing the minion wave all the way to their turret.
  • Look at the map every 30-40s, and LOOK AT THE MAP before engaging into a skirmish in lane.
  • BUY PINK WARD AND PLACE IT IN TRIBRUSH OR RIVER BUSH.
  • If you win your lane, you have two options, continue to push your lead and try to bring pressure top and take away all the turrets you can get ( REMEMBER TO WARD SO YOU DONT GET GANKED)
  • Second option, roam and get a kill mid OR make a teleport play to snowball yourself and bot/mid lane (you can do this during laning phase as well)
  • Also after laning phase, KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE MAP almost all the time for big farm. You see a lot of farm, just go to it and farm it. The more exp and gold you get the better (really help if you want to 1v5).

4 big rules -Dont die, AND DEFINITELY NEVER DIE FOR NOTHING -Pressure, pressure, pressure. Keep your opponents on their toes trying to match where you are going -Turrets and objectives, these are the most important part of the game, if you dont take down turrets and objectives then youll never win the game -Killing is just a bonus, dont force it. Let the opportunity present itself

There thats all I can really tell you without watching you play, hope I have contributed to the community. These are the things I thought of off the top of my head. most of the basics things you should know about how to play this game.

How do I lane freeze well? I tend to miss lots of cs when I do. I try to last hit, and minions get it. I hit too early, still miss. Please explain in detail; I'd love to master that.

i would suggest just going into a game by yourself and just csing to the best of your ability. just doing this once will help you ALOT.

What's wrong with Morde? I got out of Bronze hell carrying most of my games as him. I find him extremely good for low elo. Nobody expects the W heals and damage you can whip out. Hell I've healed for over half my HP when I get ganked because of maxing my W.

Rain NT1 votes

Remember not to let the wave get TOO big, always have their wave have 3-4 more minions then yours so that there isnt a huge wave breaking your freeze (unless you tank the wave, which sometimes/majority of the time not worth)

But either than that.. Practice. Practice makes perfect. Unless your internet is that bad that you cant cs cause of high ping, that might be a problem. But still decent CS can still get you out of bronze and into low-mid silver. Good farming can get you into low Gold. And Good farming + knowing how to freeze can get you into high gold. Knowing all the basics of the game (when to farm, when to push, when to gank/split, teamfight) will get you to platinum.

The only different I see between Golds and Platinums are the decision making and map awareness. Golds tend to play too aggressive or split too much without knowing how to do it right (they try to learn from trick2g but doesnt even understand how he does it), its good against low elo like bronze-silver.. but when players knows all the basics and understand of the game, it just doesnt work anymore. The differences between Platinum and Diamond is also decision making (but to a lessen degree than Gold-Platinum) and just the mechanical play, Diamond players are better at their roles then the Platinum players are. And thats the trend from there on...

So with that note, if you can get really good at last hitting and freezing, you can deny farm and get a huge advantage in lane. Smurfs can play really aggressive in low elo and get out of it fast because we already know all the basics of the game and we know when to go aggressive without getting punished. And not to mention farm really well, cause low elo tends not to farm really well, so higher tier players can just farm to snowball a lead... every 30-40 cs is basically a kill, remember that(My friend went from Bronze 5 to now Gold 3 in less than a month lol, since his main got banned which was diamond 5 )

I play best as Mord mid. I ward the whole RIver, so I see all things. By 20 mins, I normally have 200 cs. By 10, anywhere between 70-100 on average.

My playstyle is play safe and poke, always shield, time heals, and all in when they are low.

Same in team fights, but I'll flip ghost and all in and get triples, doubles, ect. I normally never engage, I heal my allies, and early keep an eye on the mini map to help my teammates not die and get kills to snowball a lead.

THANKS FOR THE TIPS!!!!!

I'm a top lane main so most of my tips I just gave you was essentially for top lane. But basics of the game is the same for every role. Mid tends to push more though cause you want to stop them from roaming (since its such a short lane its hard to gank even if youre pushed up, but that doesnt mean you cant get ganked) not to mention most mid laners can break freezes really easy with AOE clears. But good freeze can deny your opponent some farm and can help you farm since it wont be hitting under your turret. With that note, as a mid laner you should just farm like no tomorrow and keep your eye on your opposing mid laner so he cant gank the other lanes.

Roaming is the best way to get out of low elo as a mid laner, go with your jungler and kill the other two lanes. But never forget to farm alot when you see the oppurtunity on the map. Wards, farm, get turrets and inhibs.. GG win game. I personally dont like Morde as a champion atm, I think Riot gutted him too hard. I feel like if you focus him with a couple people early, he becomes pretty useless. But anything works in low elo as long as you farm. Goodluck mate.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

I HAVE had that happen before, although since working on lane control, an early gank is a free kill now (in my elo).

About to get outta B5, lol did it in one night, 2 hours.

Your builds are weird af. Your mordekaiser builds are hybrid between AS / AP burst / Tankiness. I'm seeing random items on Morde, like duskblade, Maw, Nashors, bork.

Keystones, Mordekaiser has better options then DFT. Thunderlords if AP mid, grasp if top. Olaf with warlords is interesting, but still worse then grasp.

All of your runes are incredibly aggro based, without any resistances. Just rare health. -- There's a difference between favoring damage, and going full damage that auto-dies.

Your summoners, you run ghost on mordekaiser nonstop, which I can see how that counters his immobility, even though rylais. I question if it's better then the kill potential gained from ignite though.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

I know it all looks strange. I should explain.

New Runes for Mord I've been running: 3 Movespeed Quints, Scaling AD reds, CDR blues, and scaling health yellows. Paired with boots and pots start in lane I can dodge skillshots, cc, and have nice sustain from pots whilst focusing cs early. Since I'm typically non aggro early, the scaling runes allow me to be stronger when I become more aggressive and ridiculously powerful if I get a lead.

I understand why you question my build paths with Mord. Ludens is for move AP, and the MOVESPEED, that scales with my runes, the more I have.

The same goes for Duskblade BUT THINK OF THIS: Duskblade with burst 25% of health a short time after you burst some. Mord's ult on tier one also does 25%. That's a free 50% right there, PLUS the bunch of mobility from Ludens and Duskblade together, with boots and Rylias. Pair that w I think ghost and flash, and I can even Kite Quinn. Crazy yes, yet oddly effective, unless they have long stuns and burst.

If I am going up against AP and the enemy does lots of damage with it, I'll go Maw for the AP, shield, and AD to buff q, e, and power of my ghosts, while the armor pen allows to not be useless against tanks with my scaling AD and any AD items.

Nashors is obvious for my playstyle, I play a fast Mord who needs my abilities when U have a proper opening, so CDR is a MUST to use abilities more, add ND more so ALWAYS SHIELD, although Nashors gives the highest AS in the game, and I need that to get off fast q's.

I can't play tank Mord well because I'm still melted even as a tank, have no AS, minimal damage even with juggernaut build, and awful heals from lack of AP and weak ult burn for the same reason.

I focus AP for stronger shields and more importantly fat ass heals and a powerful ult burn. Those heals save your life, really.

I used Stormraiders for awhile, but have been doing better with DFT for the past few days.

With a full damage or bruiser build, I out scale everyone in late game IF it can last that long. I WOULD play Olaf more, but he falls off hard late for me. I do better overall with Mord. The heals, shields, ghosts, burst, and dragons are just too good for me not to use.

I rush distortion swift is and tend to do well till I get 3 or 4 top, because just 2 is a double for me, normally.

Ghost and flash help me stick, grunted kills, and escape g as nks and bad scenarios. The mobility allows me not be killed, until agsin, that is I get a 3 man gank, and they repeat it.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

Acually, I watched a video of KingofEloHell, and it inspired me to build a more tanky Mord.

I land against ekko, got Maw, than Rylias and Liandries, and began building steraks. Got a few triples and an unofficial quadra! It was nice.

The enemies had lots of cc, but the swifty boots helped me not be Cc'd so much and carry my team. :D

Still ran ghost and flash tho, it saves my ass and also let's me make nice plays when in a pinch.

I'm only platinum, which i don't consider shit but I don't consider it amazing either. But I am a one trick pony and so I would say just stick to your champs every game, learn their ins and outs and eventually you shall climb sir :)

Your Mordekaiser build is sub-optimal if you ask me. You should invest in heavier defense early on and get offensive items come mid-late game. Mordekaiser really has to get durable early on in order to get his damage off and since he scales so well with total AD an early Sterak's gage would come in handy.

Try this build(order) item 3116 ->item 3053 ->item 3146 ->From there you're pretty much set and done and can invest in either pure tank items or damage but my personal favorites are item 3065 item 3157 item 3742 or item 3001

Also, Morde might not be very mobile but running both flash and ghost should be matchup dependent and not your go-to option. Morde is flexible in terms of summoner spells summoner 12 If you know you'll be having a farming/passive lane->Use to pressure the map and push other lanes summoner 3 If the enemy got a lot of assassins this is your go-to option. It's also a great offensive spell due to it's resistance shred summoner 14 My personal favorite; enables you to play aggressive and bully your opponent. It helps to net some early kills and against heavy sustain it enables you to actually kill them.

The legendary Malicious Metal. Thanks for your imput, just now saw it.

The past 3 ranked games I went more on the tanky side, with the Rylias/ Steraks early buys, than Liandries, and it worked pretty well, acually. I had decent damage, could take punches, and could soak nice damage.

But I did use my old Mord runes instead of my Movespeed/Scaling AD and health page: 3 AS quints, AD reds, AP blues, and part health/ part scaling health yellows. Didn't move anywhere near as quickly, but it was okay because I still had ghost and flash.

I've had a few games using flash and ignite. It was nice, the kill potential, but I had no extra escape aside from flash, and when I do flash, they catch up anyways. Any tips on how to use them better? I had used other summoner spells before, but since switching to ghost and flash, my Mord play has seemed to improve. (Couldn't quite grasp flash and ignite in the past, I'd tend to be riiiight outta range to cast it and couldn't catch up--figure it's a nice fisher spell, or a heal less Mord ult presix)

I agree with your rylais rush. I think a second item steraks is a bit much unless your afraid of getting bursted down quickly. I find nashors tooth has incredible synergy with his kit, but maybe as a third item after gunblade. Any sheen item is always excellent (Trinity being my fav, gauntlet also being a good option if they enemy is heavy on AD. Dont forget to take storm raiders surge and max his W. Its an excellent mastery for morde as its easy for him to proc, and it help with chasing down enemies. His early laning is a bit week but he can actually solo baron at 20 mins with two items (rylais and gunblade for example) with a dragon ghost (Make sure your atleast lvl 11 though, need the 2nd point in your ult. although you should be lvl 11 by 20 mins anyway). Its a nice cheese that people wont expect

Been using your build. In 4 games, I qualified for a series and got a free win.

Changed page to 3 AS quints, AD reds and AP quints with mixed health/Scaling yellows.

Ran flash and ignite. Holy moly the kill potential!!

METAL WILL NEVER DIE

Although I will say, if I am in lane and have a tough AP matchup, I do go Maw. I'll get an early hexdrinker, finish rylias, than maw into steraks. The MR and AD works very nicely, and goes well with steraks when you build it later.

I'm not high elo, but while hyper carrying seems like a good strategy, you NEED to widen your champion pool. Having such a small pool means you can easily be countered, not so much in bronze but definitely in higher elos. Another suggestion, although not necessary, is find a secondary role, you are not going to get your role 100% of the time, I main support and even picking Support/Fill has failed me sometimes so you need to be able to play other things, based on your current champion pool I suggest Top/JG. I have one friend in high gold and one friend in plat and both of them said that for ranked you want a main and secondary for your main role, and a main and secondary for your secondary role, that way you're almost always prepared for yours or the enemy team. Hope this helps at all!

I just recently got to Silver V by purely playing Mordekaiser. Malicious Metal's core items (Rylai's/Sterak's/Gunblade) are definately the best items on Morde. I tend to max W first because you can win extended and short trades hard with the insane early heals. I usually take Rift Herald early and dragon to pressure lanes hard. Maxing W can heal half the HP of you AND your jungler. If you get ganked, your W can save you thanks to the massive heal.

TLDR; Build Rylai's/Sterak's/Hextech Gunblade in that order, max W first (shielding, healing allies/yourself and melting objectives), E second, and Q last. Ignite/flash is standard, the burst with your ult/Gunblade/ignite is actually strong, and can devastate squishies. Shove your lane and help your team contest objectives whenever/if possible.

Happy Morde'n.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

Hmmm, okay. I'll try that. I've been doing Rylias, Steraks, and Liandries. Back when I used to build gunblade on hom, it would take sooooo long that I'd get behind and feed, so it's been awhile.

I'll try the old way again

Fat Bastard GOD1 votes

The reason I love Gunblade on Morde is because of the stats. The AP is great, the AD combined with Steraks's will give you above 500 AD on your Qs. You also heal off ALL your damage, which is amazing considering how high his scalings are. The active ranged attack/slow on the Gunblade is also makes your ranged combo devastating (ult/ignite/Gunblade). Also ensures the enemy will have one hell of a hard time getting away.

I know it's expensive, but is ridiculously powerful on Morde. However, if you are behind, don't rush it. You are better off getting Abyssal to catch up (it's dirt cheap and also fantastic on Morde thanks to its tankiness/damage stats.

If you insist on being a one-trick player, learn your champions inside and out. Know your power-spikes, your limits, where you are supposed to be at every stage of the game and how every match-up should be played.

That said, there are probably better champions you could use to climb through low ELO. Teams down there are typically low on CC, but CC is **extremely **influential in fights and you probably always have three champions with little else but damage.

I'm going to copy my advice from another thread on the same subject.

You have to adapt to the ELO you are in; the champions, playstyles and strategies which work well in Gold will not necessarily work in Silver.

From what I recall of my time in Silver last season, I identified four main weaknesses that I sought to exploit:

[1] Players typically have poor general skills in lane.

Players don't really know how to manage minion waves, trade proficiently, shut down opponents or roam. Due to this, it's really quite easy to get ahead as a mid- to late-game scaling champion (i.e. Wukong, Nasus, Irelia) without falling behind and even snowballing early.

Also, players often overextend or ward poorly so you can often get fed rather quickly when jungling if you have strong early ganks (i.e. Volibear, Xin Zhao, Kindred).

[2] Players tend to group around objectives constantly and/or at bad times (they don't rotate well).

Honestly, a lot of my matches devolved into essentially ARAM. Both teams would group around an objective (i.e. a tower, inhibitor, dragon, baron) and proceed to spend the next couple minutes walking around it and exchanging poke until somebody gets caught out or sloppily engages a teamfight. I got a lot of use out of Ziggs (mid) and Varus (ADC) during these times since I could easily disengage fights, poke them down, or pick someone off.

[3] Teams tend to lack durability and CC

This isn't always true but I ran into many teams composed highly of squishy, high-damage and low CC champions in Silver. To compensate for this, my champions would usually at least have one strong CC ability and/or some durability to fill this gap.

It's hilarious how having even one durable fighter/tank and/or some AoE CC can change a fight against a team of carries. The ability to engage/disengage fights or pick people off is massive.

[4] Very, very few people know how to support properly.

Support seems to be the role that people are usually forced into playing (at least before dynamic queue). As such, it was typically filled by a player inexperienced with the role and a good support could be extremely influential (since they didn't have to worry about the other support countering them).

As such, an experienced support player would (even with a poor ADC) be able to dominate bottom lane. After crushing the enemy bottom lane and when their ADC is back, supports can roam mid or support their jungler during an invade to spread their lead and get their other allies ahead while shutting down their enemies.

Obviously, I would recommend playing champions you love and who you are experienced with. However, I would recommend you take a look at what mistakes or trends appear during every game and think on how you can exploit them.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

Excellent detail; love it.

You know what's wierd? I'm B5 but there is a SHIT LOAD of cc most of my games, and it sucks for me. Although it could be because I pick Mord, and they want their WHOLE team made to counter me. It's surprisingly common, although my recent mobility builds help me in lane---although I've been tanky recently, and it's helped.

Things I need practice on:

-Freezing lane -not pushing so far because I want hyper focus cs and towers -warding with pinks (everyone I buy yhem, I tend to die placing them--- I must have terrible placement)

  • how to survive bring tower dived by 2-4 man enemy ganks, surrounded by both sides. (I tend to play safe early, sustain lane, and refuse to fie, do I tend to be hard focused most ranked games)

Please give more tips on these things I struggle wiyh; I'm more than willing to listen.
