wait is he doing another one?

oh no.

I think his Warwick rework was really good, maybe he should try focusing on GU's instead of VGU's, where he only changes certain aspects rather than a brand new champion or complete rework.

Some champions could use a little spice, rather than every single thing about the champion having some spice, and some true damage, and a gap closer, and a new mechanic. Smaller scale changes you see, like put him on Volibear, he could use some degree of mechanics but still be simple.

He collaborated in the rework. It was not totally reworked by him, also he stated that he didn't liked the job since he couldn't do what he wanted with WW.

So i'm with the OT ... champ designed by CT should be banned by default in ranked

CertainlyT isn't meant to design for League of Legends (on his own), he'd be really good at making bosses for MMORPG's, but his champions lack basic counterplay. So I guess he is out of luck.

saltran8 votes

No, he is a good designer but they just need to give him less freedom in his projects.

Tobykachu14 votes

Which is it? Either he is a good designer in which he wouldn't need to be restrained or he isn't.

Imperial Pandaa4 votes

Why can't it be both?

Chromatic Eagle11 votes

How can it be both?

Imperial Pandaa2 votes

Depends how you approach it.

It is opinionated for a start. So player A might think great designer while Player B goes "fuck this".

Otherwise you have to look at the intent. I believe he has good intention for trying to add more flavour to the game, but I also acknowledge that flavour might be a tad too spicey. Does the spice make him a bad designer? Not imo. You could also blame another person for not vetoing the champ or a part of the champ.

Let ne present a game example: You are the ruler of a land and you are presented with choices to improve the land. Progressively it gets harder to know what the right call is to keep the land flourishing. Todays choice; Keep Human Police - Pros; Empathy (may let someone starving who stole food for family go) Cons; Corruptable

Implement Robotic/Cyborg Police - Pros; Incorruptible Cons; No Empathy (circumstances don't give exception)

Does picking one make you a worse ruler? To some yes, to others no.

except for the part where almost no one in existence thinks CertainT makes for a good champ designer..........

also what in gods fucking name are you talking about with your analogies??

Warlord Dienekes1 votes

He’s what we’d call an “idea man.” He comes up with unique and interesting ideas that push the boundaries.

He just needs someone to reign him in a notch or five.

Generic Ninja5 votes

No they dont? I mean CertainlyT gets way more hate than he deserves, but of all things to say, saying that his champs lack counterplay? His champs have a lot of counterplay. Hell, his most recent rework, Akali, increased counterplay by a ton (before you could not hit Akali with AoE in the shroud ever, and you couldnt stop her from killing you since she just pressed R on you 3 times. Now she has to aim stuff, kills you much slower, and you can dodge it). Zoe is straight up a skillshot mage so you can dodge that stuff. Darius can be kited like hell, Warwicks, well, Warwick, etc. etc.

WeaselRune4 votes

If youre wondering why youre getting downvoted so bad... I mean saying stuff like:

Zoe is straight up a skillshot mage so you can dodge that stuff.

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/uNdE3pLP-this-was-an-outplay-dont-be-fooled

Zoe has since been nerfed a bit, and thats why you dont see her as much... cause like all CertainlyT champs, she has "back up bullshit" in her overloaded kit to make up for the weakness of being able to "dodge" her stuff. Just like Yasuo, who has a a shield that goes off when hes hit, and a wind wall, and 6 dashes every wave to make trying to hit him with an ability a waste of time.... He should be at a disadvantage to a mage, but has a bunch of extra bs in his kit to cover him.... cause you know... they lack counterplay.

Generic Ninja5 votes

Uh, Im sorry to burst your bubble, but literally all poke champs have back up damage ontop of their poke. And to burst it further, Zoes is among the worst. Nidalees cougar form is ludicrous and lets not even get started on what Jayce does. Zoes kit isnt overloaded. Her W is literally the only possible problem at all, and even then its mainly the random drops from minions. Also Im not sure why you linked that clip because it literally disproves your point. The poster was right. Qt fucked up really bad in that clip.

Except every time Yasuo dashes, thats a free hit with an ability of your choice. If you cant hit him with abilities, you simply suck. And he is at a disadvantage to a mage. However, he doesnt autolose thanks to those tools, because that would be idiotic. He doesnt lack counterplay at all.

well that's bullshit. free hit when yasuo dashes?? you're talking like you can predict to what minion he dashes to?

Maybe they could try that again to see if he could make another champ/rework that is healthy.

I think if Riot are in the process of making an MMO (not saying even remotely that they are) that he should be moved to their dungeon/raid design team That's the kinda game where his creativity would be really appreciated.

I agree on this one. The amount of rumors that Riot is making an MMO for their new game and the fact that they didn't make a reveal or even a teaser yet...let's say the suspense is really killing. It better be something good though.

Yeah, I really hope it turns out to be an MMO, they have a good world they could build on with it.

And thank god for that. I don't want a Warwick with 7 dashes, true damage and a totally unique, rule-bending, game-breaking mechanic.

That's why I said smaller scale, like an Ezreal tier rework. I think this would be a lot better for him, rather than having the freedom of an entire VGU.

My guess he was kept on an extremely tight leash there. WW definitely does not feel like CT.

He was, and he didn't enjoy doing the rework because he didn't get to do everything he wanted and the champion felt unfinished. I like the idea of CertainlyT's champions, they are cool, but he forgets that this is a MOBA and other people have to fight the things he makes, this isn't a single player game.

Every champion he has every created has become a pick or ban champion, some of which were at WORLDS Thresh Kalista Akali Zoe , so if this doesn't raise a few eyebrows for concern then Riot imo is turning a blind eye to it.

CT did the entire rework iirc. He didn't collaborate with anyone. If I remember right, he wasn't happy with how we came out because it's too basic and the champ has very little flexibility which I agree.

Just so you know he was not the main developer for Warwick's rework since there were multiple other people who actually worked and came up with majority of the ideas but he did indeed help with the rework. Honestly his ideas are mostly just bad and problematic which always makes me wonder why hes still working for Riot.

I think his ideas are cool, but I think he should he only be apart of groups where other designers can remove things they know will be too problematic, having CertainlyT have 100% say for a champion is bound to have issues.

Malix Farwin15 votes

Certainly T didnt make the reworked Irelia , had no parts of Leblanc or Pyke . We keep blaming CT for broken things when most of the champions that are problematic right now have nothing to do with him.

WoodenCreature14 votes

For every new CertainlyT champion just give +1 ban. His design ideas are cool but at the same time toxic for the game. If rito gems is banning for negative attitude/toxic behaviour when players do something same should apply to guys like CT that pour the game with toxic stuff.

Tresh was a pick or ban during all worlds and was nerfed God know how many times. He also went trough a mini skill change and his kit was gutted down to be less impactfull. Still a top tier support and he is a shadow of his former self.

Darius after going in penta streak for weeks got gutted and then eventually reworked. While he didn't saw words a lot has always been problematic champ and his R has eventually been changed at least 3 times till now

.... Sooooo, invalid argument. Try again next time

Thresh was actually the first champ to get nerfed more than Irelia back then. So yeah. Balanced. I can't even remember how many things were removed on him.

But both Thresh and Darius made people actually wanna play other roles. Thresh made support more popular while Darius made toplane more popular. While they were op as fuck (numbers wise mostly) they still made league better. Thresh is PRAISED as one of the best god damn characters created.

3TWarrior5 votes

where is he praised for that? He is a fun character, but it also took TWO SOLID YEARS OF NERFS to bring him in line with other supports because he does EVERYTHING

Generalists are ALWAYS A PROBLEM IN LEAGUE IF THEY ARE NOT WEAK IN SOME FORM

let's look at just a few examples today: jax, irelia, lee sin, yasuo and several others are all very popular because they have fewer weaknesses when they are given extra strength (such as by runes reforged)

The designs are good, but champions that offer too much are problematic for the game because only the most recent changes can keep pace with them unless their numbers are knocked down by large amounts or the problem parts of their kit are removed

take a look at Jax. He was balanced for years on end, but suddenly he was given a ridiculous advantage: 20% of his damage changed to true damage, and now he's meta. Champions such as Lee Sin have always been the baseline for their roles, but why? Because if you can not compete with them, you effectively won't do well

There is a difference between roles being "more popular" and people jumping on the OP wagon for the fad till it gets nerfed. Are people really playing support cause they want to, or do they wan to abuse the new champ while they can? Statistics and history of the game show that a huge portion of the playerbase jump onto whats got a big winrate and is considered OP. Thresh was way too strong at one point, and Darius was busted OP as hell.

Did the roles really get more popular? Or did they just flock to the role the OP champ works in.... again, statistics and history show that they flock to the busted stuff, and drop it when it gets nerfed.

This by itself should convince most people that it is infact bad for the game if droves of people are trying to abuse things. As well as getting inflated MMR, then being placed in other peoples matches and losing once theyre crutch has been taken away.

This was how Kalista was when people realized she could hop away from people at virtualy infinte speed. I remember her hopping backwards away from my ulting Yi with boots of swiftness. She couldnt be caught, and she could auto attack. People picked that shit every match to abuse it... so you could say certainlyt made ADC more popular.... no he made a busted champ that had to be fixed/nerfed. Kali was also the first ADC to have their AD ratio be 0.9 of the itemization... sounds absurd, but Kali cant be beat if she has access to the same level of stats other ADCs have.

I could go on... I think you get the Idea tho.

Thing i hate most is that both teams ban the same champs so there's only 5-6 champs banned / game

L Rayquaza6 votes

The problem with CT champs is they are fun to play, and with how good they are being fun to play they are not fun to face

Daddy Ants5 votes

CTT is a good designer but he values "fun to play" more than counterplay.

Zoe and Akali are perfect examples of this.

His recent work has been lacking heavily on counterplay.

Bardmageddon5 votes

Champion Design Darius (no comment) Thresh (does everything leona and blitzcrank does, but better) Zyra (no comment) Yasuo (still League's most hated champ) Kalista (OP on release, has been doing a lot of jumping badum tss from strong to weak since then) Zoe ( Literally caused the game to crash on release, don't even get me started on the rest of her)

Champion Rework Warwick (Good rework, but the q follow up is too much) Mordekaiser (He is in good shape now, but he was a nightmare during the bruiser reworks) Graves (The reworked kicked him from bot to top where he would win any match up thanks to the easiest wave clearing) Caitlyn (No comment) Akali (True stealth, because **** you)

CertainlyT can go overboard with some champs, but if it weren't for this then I would say he does a good job (he just need some kind of retrain)

Malix Farwin2 votes

{quoted}

He is making a new champion though, I got conformed by a Rioter.

Probably coming out in may or something. ######So we can finally have a counter for his other champions

I mean he is a riot developer, eventually he is going to make new champs/work on reworks, thats his job. i highly suspect he will make yet another champion or work on another rework in 2020 as well.

ChuShoe2 votes

Akali Kalista Darius Zoe Yasuo even the people who main these champions will admit that they're not fun to fight.

Thresh Was problematic for a long time and now is finally a stable support, yet still a top tier support.

Warwick Is probably his best product so far, and he was chained down and supervised to ensure that he didn't go overboard with his "creative" designs.

And a good chunk of each I see get banned at least 1 time per game.

If this isn't indicative of a problem to you, then you're either blind or intentionally ignoring the problem.

Póppy Chulo1 votes

Wait CT designed Darius too? No wonder i perma ban him. Nobody likes laning vs him thats for sure.

And i didnt even know WW was designed by CT till about 3 months later, and i will admit, it was really his best release yet. Its beautiful and balanced.
