So is it even possible for Assassins to be healthy?

Their main schtick is to instantly kill a target(s) so fast that they can not even react. There are slight variations here and there, but that's generally the main idea.

Is there ever a 100% balanced assassin capable of achieving that goal and still feel fair for both sides?

I think the main idea is that they punish bad positioning of squishy carries. A mobile mage can kite and go all-in just as well during the laning phase (assuming neither one has gained too much momentum over each other). In a teamfight, a mage typically kites and deals heavy damage, occasionally deleting squishies but often getting it soaked by tanks.

An assassin finds a squishy that's caught out, and punishes them, thus removing a substantial amount of the enemy's damage in the ensuing teamfight. They go in, get out, and wait for the next opportunity.

The best counter, imo, is counterplay. You either remove the assassin's effectiveness (certain items, such as silver sash, is amazing) or send in the bruiser. A bruiser is an assassin's worst nightmare. A little cc, enough damage to bring them down to half, and that Zed runs... only to be charmed by the waiting Ahri in the river bush.

Assassins delete squishies, but in order to do so they might have to leave the backline away from the bruiser/tank's frontline, meaning you can give them a taste of their own medicine.

Remember, just my thoughts.

well if the Brusier doesn't just get assassinated themself then yes what you say is basically true.

But most fighters and tanks are just another target to be killed by an assassin in the current game.

A bruiser solo? Maybe, depending on who decides to run first and builds and blah blah blah.

But you're thinking targets, you got to think positioning. An assassin has to leave the safety of the backline to delete a caught-out squishy during a teamfight.

An assassin typically has mobility, but this can be countered by getting them caught out from multiple angles and leaving them few options. After that, they really don't have much cc to work with. One stun or knockup by the bruiser and the carries can do the rest.

Well since riot seem to think that a fully built tank being killed in under 4 seconds by a fully built ADC is healthy I see no issues with assassins killing the ADC in under a second.

Sarcasm is such a sad truth of the world

Tanks are strongest midgame, adc's are strongest late game. It's all about positioning and teamwork.

Glass cannons still take hits like tissue papers, you just got to abuse that.

Yes, completely possible.

Won't happen though, Riot still hasn't been able to figure out how to differentiate between a tank and bruisier.
