@Reav3 'I think we are pretty aligned that her fantasy is that of a Assassin and not a Diver.'

I tried to make this clear the first time Eve was remade. Quite a few Eve mains said the same in the far distant days of Season 2. But, sadly, our words weren't heeded.

Don't.

Do not do it again.

The only time Eve has ever been a functional assassin were in the early days of her first remake when people were building the then ungodly powerful Deathfire on her. And it was awful. Heavy burst out of stealth is just terrible to play against and it'll end in Eve getting crushed down into a Skirmisher/Diver hybrid again because that's the only way permanent stealth can pan out without being totally oppressive.

Because lets be clear here, that's what Eve has always been if we're using the modern terms. The original Eve had a spammy single (two, technically) target nuke with low damage and lower cooldown, a stronger nuke that shredded flat resist, CC out of stealth, and an Ult that gave her a massive IAS/Move speed buff along with a large heal on takedowns. Her burst damage was awful. Her sustained damage fell somewhere between Xin and Yi. Why is that important? Because strong sustained damage gives you more time to react than getting popped in a quarter second does.

Once the dust settled on her remake (read: nerfs for years) Eve's role really hadn't changed. Her ability to sustain through fights took a boot to the cooter, but her ability to break focus with her W made up for it. She has the same in and out gimmick of an assassin, but without the benefit of moveblocks and on-demand tactical stealth of the true assassins.

That should continue to be the case.

Eve should still be able to eat hits and dart out of a fight without fancy displacement skills and invisibility. She should be using her invisibility to get into battles, not out of them. She should still be focused primarily on strong sustained damage to resolve her from the other melee guys who uses stealth to enter fights. Because let me be absolutely clear here. Riot already tried to turn Eve into a Burst Assassin. It was terrible. It'll still be terrible.

Don't.

Do not do it again.

I don't know why, but the italics I really don't like. Just a personal thing, good post though

Hah.

There are only a few ways to try to express emphasis and passion in a forum post. And I try to steer away from shouting and profanity if possible.

They love to label champions, Karma is support, Malphite is tank and Eve is assassin. Thru 90% of her existence, Eve distinctive feature, was not being an assassin, but its stealth and versatility aka hybrid. The ability to take many build paths and roles, from tank to skirmisher and assassin too. Eve mains dont want her to be assassin alone, we want to be able to play her as AD, as AP, mainly as hybrid and retain her key feature of stealth. Would be awesome if she was not only limited to the jungle, but also mid and/or top. She is between the few champs which are greatly limited to only 1 role in terms of positioning on the map, majority of champs are able to pick on different lanes, some even several(like Ekko). There is only a handful of core supports which remain only in that position and its a shame Eve is taken to their boundaries.

I'm pretty much in full agreement here. Eve has aspects of a Skirmisher, a Diver, and an Assassin. Though if I were to pin her to any one of those, I would say she's a Skirmisher foremost and a Diver/Assassin secondarily. She has always had a reliable way to get into battle, but getting out is a little more tricky.

I'm sitting here imagining what Eve would be like if she were a true Assassin with perma-stealth intact. Imagine Assassin level burst, perma-stealth, and a move-block or on-demand tactical stealth ability for getting her out of battle. That would be pretty much the most disgusting thing ever to play against.
