If Senna is meant to be primarily a support...

...Shouldn't she have an AP ratio on her Q and W damage as well to make actual support-based items worth the hassle, but weaker ratios overall? This would let her build enchanter items without being punished so heavily, but with lowered AD ratios and low AP ratios making stat-stick items like Deathcap weak on her.

I've played a lot of Senna since she released (as much as I can between two accounts, grabbing M7 on her within the first week) and it always did bother me that she is encouraged to build so much AD when she's meant to be a support. AD support items aren't the solution to getting her out of solo lanes, I believe making her enchanter side stronger is.

Proposed Changes:

  • Q: Reduce healing Bonus AD ratio from 40% to 25%. Reduce damage bonus AD ratio from 50% to 30%, add damage AP ratio of 20-35%. More aggressive nerfs to the AD ratios are acceptable (20% and 25% for healing and damage, respectively.)

  • W: Reduce bonus AD ratio from 70% to 50%. Add AP ratio of 25-40%. A very aggressive nerf to her AD ratio could reduce it to 40% or even 35%.

This would make her AP items less wasteful to her overall, but with low overall ratios on her primary abilities, it would place emphasis on item effects instead of raw stats. With a focus on item effects and weak overall ratios, she also loses solo-lane presence since the gold funneled into her is much less efficient than if given to another champion that can scale harder or simply takes better advantage of high-stat items. (Champions like Ahri, Cassiopeia, Veigar, Yasuo, and Zed put the stats to much better overall use, and even the item effects, since Senna's crit scaling is very weak.)

I know Senna is still a hot-button topic and yes, she is overtuned at the moment, which is why I'm proposing a change like this; lowered ratios get her out of solo lane since expensive items and dedicated farm is wasted on her, while adding AP ratios encourage her to go bot lane and pick up cheap efficiency-based items like item 3504 and item 3174 .

She's designed to be an AD support, like Pyke. She has AP ratios on the supportive things she does, like the heal on her Q and the shield on her ult, but the intention is that she builds mostly AD items to function like a mage support would, focusing on damaging the enemy and locking them down with minor utility on the side.

Her AP ratios are good enough that she usually builds at least one support item, usually item 3174.

I think just stronger AP ratios on her heal/shield (and lower base on all of her damage and her buffs alike) would help in that regard. If she wants to go damage as a carry support or as the game's adc, fine, but she should have to give up a large part of her utility to do so.

I kind of wish there was a way to boost the effect of heal/shield power on her without just amping up her base heal numbers, but maybe lowering the AP ratio on her damage but bumping it even more on her heal/shield could work to do that. So she could build item 3905 item 3089 alongside three heal power items to reach her max CDR and focus on her supportive characteristics without Q/R being full screen nukes.
