Kog'Maw and his E

Seeing as how its the only real defenssive mechanism he has, would it be unreasonable to make his E have the same rooting effect as cassiopias w?

A bit yeah. The whole point of Kog is to do insane late game damage from a pretty long range. Kog's 'safety' is his range. He needs to have a trade-off for his insane damage output, so he's immobile. Giving him a more defensive buff would throw the balance of risk vs reward off.
