8 month later to realized they gutted tahm kench

Dremiist··3 votes·919 views

let me explain: ~~back then tahm kench had a passive doing 2/4/6% of his maximum health on hit at all time, it was really rewarding and satisfactory ~~

now tahm kench deal 1 / 1.25 / 1.5% maximum health with his passive (an acquired taste) stacking up to 3 time 3 / 3.75 / 4.5% , if he eat up someone (devour) he lose the mark (an acquired taste).rendering the % of his health damage on hit useless.

~~back then you could dealt 6% oh his health damage on minion it was awesome as a support or a top laner, now you only dealt 1.5% because you can't stack his passive (an acquired taste) on minions. ~~

"oh but his W do %health of enemy champion" but still! you can't do something like that, it's too harsh.

you can't do that, first rendering his % health damage into a passive stacking up to 3 time losing it up upon eating enemies champion, 2 by tweaking the number.

you can't play with numbers like that, 1.5% and 4.5% after 3 hits and 6% at all time 18% after 3 hits. look at this! see where you went wrong! even if W already has % health damage of enemy champions, 90% slow is detrimental.

~~nerf like this is detrimental for both roles! ~~

you need to do something about this!

btw i stopped playing top a long time ago , but didn't know it was due to his nerf!

(edit) didn't realize it was bonus health vs max health, my bad. on a side note last hitting , split pushing got gutted by 1/2 you can't stack passive on minion , when back then you'd hit them for maximum stack everytime, that's a huge nerf: it's probably why people don't play tahm kench top anymore

here's some math:

610 health at level 1 , and 760 with a ruby crystal. without the ruby crystal AT LEVEL 1

initial hit: 6.1 second hit: 12.2 and lastly: 18.3 damage combine the the three : 36.6 damage.

with ruby crystal tahm kench dealt with his first hit 7.1 then 14.2 and lastly 21.3 damage combined : 42.6 damage

old tahm kench with ruby crystal 3 3 3 = 9 damage

level 18 and both at 4k hp

4000-2225 = 1775

new tahm kench 60 120 180 = 360

old tahm kench 106.5 106.5 106.5 = 319.5 release tahm kench 142 142 142 = 426

new tahm kench 60 120 180 60 120 180= 720 old tahm kench 106.5 106.5 106.5 106.5 106.5 106.5 = 639 release tahm kench 142 x 6 = 852

before release Jhin January 28, 2016 tahm kench passive did 8% bonus health late game. i think that's when tahm kench hit the nerf bat. and then again and then buffed his early game and nerfed his late game. but still nerfed for top due to passive not stacking on minion

his E thick skin got gutted! Grey Health generation reduced to 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90% damage taken from 100 at all ranks

honestly,i don't really mind about it.

what really butt hurt me is this : Active shield duration reduced to 3 seconds from 6, WTF d'you really think buffing his Cooldown reducing it to 6 seconds at all ranks from 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 will do anything?

it's not an extra shield, ain't no janna, it's his health the moment you use it you have nothing. grey shield is rewarding using his entire HP as a shield is not. unless you want me to go full lifesteal. why would i even do that, just no.

can't use the shield on allies, last less than 5 second and consume my health, yes i like the grey health regeneration and i depend heavily on it , i wouldn't say the same about the shield , the moment you use it you have 3 seconds to not only get away from team fights, you do not only run from teamfights but you also run back to base.

doesn't matter how long the cooldown is, you could revert the cooldown to 12 second and i wouldn't feel a difference

to go back to full health in 12 seconds you need a warmog, spirit visage the health regen masteries and 3 ocean drake.

doesn't matter if the shield doesn't decay overtime , 3 second and it's gone. i rather have janna shield because at least i don't lose my entire HP bar as shield for 3 second protection.

(edit) tl;dr: the nerf and buff is not that bad overall but i don't seem to get what stopping me from playing tahm kench top anymore. could anyone tell me what's the biggest nerf for top? probably the fact that his passive cannot be stacked on minions anymore why not make it full stack on monster and minion at all time?

also his win rate is under 50% just saying

Here's some information you're neglecting to look at. Tahm's old passive on his R gave him 2%/4%/6% of his BONUS HP as magic damage on attacks. Tahm's newer passive that was given as an actual passive gives him 1%/1.25%/1.5% of his MAXIMUM HP as magic damage on attacks, stacking. This alone is a HUGE difference. Let's take this example:

TahmKench has 900 HP. He builds a item 1028. This means his total HP is now 1050 (900+150 bonus HP). Now some math: With his old passive he would only deal 2/4/6% of his BONUS HP, which means his base of 900 is not counted. This means it deals 2/4/6% of the 150 given from the item 1028. He would therefore only deal 3/6/9 extra damage as magic damage with just that item.

If we look at his newer passive, it deals 1/1.25/1.5% of his MAXIMUM HP as magic damage, stacking. This means that he will deal 10.5/13.13/15.75 with 1 stack, and up to 31.5/39.39/47.27 with 3 stacks of magic damage with that same item 1028.

Sure, he once things pan out and he gets more HP, the initial hit with the newer passive is worse than the initial hit of the old passive on R, but once he starts stacking, he will deal a helluva lot more damage than his old passive ever did.

yes you're right it's HUGE difference i didn't realize it until now, thanks for correcting me there.

also don't forget you can't stack it on minion that was huge when pushing! and vs super minion! HUGE for last hitting! probably why people don't play tahm kench top anymore. late game that is.

when fed early game and stacking health items, since you're low level his passive was really strong you wouldn't feel much of a difference between his old and new passive. release tahm kench would be massively superior! snow balling the f*** out of top lane.

before release JHIN tahm kench January 28, 2016 was strong AF

Comparing his status versus release numbers is skewed. Every new champion has number inconsistencies and power problems on release. After he was initially brought into line is when he should be compared, not on his release. Camille was an absolute monster on release, as was Kalista. They were severely overtuned, as was Kench. You cannot accurately compare a champion with an overtuned kit to the current kit. You would need to compare Tahm to how his kit was just before his passive shifted from R to his passive for an accurate reflection, because of course release Tahm was super strong.

The extra damage procs everytime you add a stack. He can only eat someone at 3 (max) stacks, so at that point your passive wouldn't be doing anything anyways. Eating the enemy and removing their stacks actually lets you use your passive %HP damage again since there is no cd between when you can add stacks again.

"oh but his W" you can't do something like this it's too harsh, you can't do that, first rendering his % health damage into a passive stacking up to 3 time to lose it up upon eating enemies, 2 by nerfing the number by a lot , you can't play with % health damage numbers like that, 4,5% after 3 hits for a total of 4.5 and 6% at all time 18% after 3 hits, you can't tweak small numbers like this. even if W already has % health damage, 90% slow is detrimental.

Again I don't think you fully understand how his passive works.

^ it's not an extra shield it's his health the moment you use it you have nothing. grey shield is rewarding use the shield is not. unless you want me to go full lifesteal. why would i even do that, just no.

Using the shield is rewarding if you actually use it at the right time. Finishing a fight alive but with 100 hp because you used your shield is far better than finishing the fight dead because you were trying to save your grey health.

BECAUSE THERE NO WAY YOU'RE GOING BACK TO FULL HEALTH inside 12 second, it's a free thicket to fountain, might as well run teleport as support while i'm at it. if they ask, blame riot.

If you killed/ forced the enemy off and survived who cares. You would probably be going back to base no matter what champion you played in that situation. Grey health is to protect against poke, it is not to keep you alive after an all in. That is what warmogs is for if you absolutely want that.

Problem is unless the enemy has gap closers and are paying attention toTahmKench he will almost never get 3 stacks on the enemy to do full damage, he needs that full damage always up on his q after lvl 6 because that is all he is good for offensively in most situations.

Did we forget to mention that his only single target cc that doesnt make the enemy untargetable also? His q stun is almost non existent because..again, you will never get 3 stacks without being bursted down and killed unless the enemy is bad, what ? he has a slow? nope gap closers ignore that.
