Nidalee...Glitch with Pounce?

When you are near a hunted person and the arrow "click" comes just in range, you push W, but you do not jump the full distance to the person. For some reason, even after the arrow clicks in, you have to be closer for it to jump as a target. Why?

i saw this last night. i was playing susan against a nid top and she turret dove me, but her pounce looked like a jinx ult. she pounced and shot right to me from so far away lol
