Can We Discuss How Brand is at the Moment?

Start off with what most people think:

The not so hot: -Brand is under powered -has trouble putting down reliable damage due RNG nature of his ult. -Brand has no mobility outside of his to legs and flash -Brand is jungle food -Just jump on him and he dies

The Hot:**** -Brand has some of the best, if not, the best aoe magic damage in team fights -Brand is a strong laner. He wins most trades against mages and assassins mid lane -Brand has one of the longest (maybe the longest?) single target stuns in the game -Brand has incredibly good single target burst. -Brand as great base damages, and %hp damages -Brand has great wave clear, long aa range. He can farm well.

So what does he need to be considered more viable than under powered?

Where is he at right now compared to other popular mages and some not so popular mages?

What do you think about Brand right now?

Actually, just not perfectly suited to the current meta.
Only his ultimate is randomized, and you can at least make it prioritize champions.
Intentional design, and I don't want Brand to get some random mobility.
I can't count the number of Firstblood-Double kills I've gotten, thanks to level 6 ganks.
When you're solo in mid-lane, you use wards to keep people away. When you're in team fights, you use teammates. Brand 101

His AoE damage rivals Ziggs and Xerath, probably doing better because of his passive.
Quite a strong laner after a bit of mana sustain.
2 seconds is probably the longest single-target stun on a basic spell. That said, there are a number of AoE stuns that are longer, and then there's Ashe's ECA.
The 4th-highest single-target burst if done right. IIRC, the three champs with higher burst rotations are Leblanc, Malzahar and Syndra.
Damage and wave clear are great, but his AA range is pretty average (550)

I really don't think Brand needs any changes as he is. Itemization currently allows him to be a late-game menace. Because all of his spells have an attached DoT, any on-spell effect gets proc'd multiple times, making Rylai's and Liandry's exceptionally powerful on him.

Honestly, I think a more reliable ult is all he needs. He already deals ridiculous damage, with extra % damage at that.

He just gets sad when he ults and it hits one champ and 4 minions.

I think it would be cool if the splash damage when you E something already ablazed would cause a slow to anyone hit by it.
