Regarding Promotions
In general, I feel like promotions are generally not fair to players, even with the new "You get a free win for your promos". I feel like taking LP away from someone who earned the right to try to promote is counter-productive. Instead, I suggest that the promotion games be completely LP-cost-free.
This doesn't mean that I feel that players should get unlimited tries in a row to promote - rather, I feel that the subtraction of LP as if they were playing normal ranked games is unfair.
Also, it's ridiculous that you lose less LP for demoting than you do for failing a series. I can demote, and in 2 games be back to my promotion for the division I demoted from. If I fail divisional promotions (3 games), it can take you down to 60ish LP, 40ish for League promotions (5 games), which is extremely demoralizing and can lead to a grind, depending on who you happen to get matched with. I feel like this is unfairly balanced toward demoted players getting back to where they were, even if they don't deserve it.
In response to this, I believe that the penalty for losing a promotional series should be the same as a demotion - a flat LP penalty subtracted from the 100 it took a player to acquire to attain the right to promote (note that they don't necessarily have to be exactly the same amount, but it should be close).
Anyone else agree?
PS ~ If this seems lenient, perhaps make each subsequent failed promotion add another 5LP to the penalty, to a hard cap of, say, 50. So say the penalty started at 25LP (same as a demotion). If the player makes their promos again, but fails a second time, they then drop 30LP. The next time, 35LP, then 40, until they hard cap at 50LP lost every time they fail their promos.
