Smite Talon? God?

I recently watched a video from RedMercy about running a Smite Zed in-lane and then I realized it would be awesome to run a smite Talon. Talon passive "Mercy" allows smite to let him inflict more damage and then he can also throw his W to increase or reset the duration of the slow, allowing more damage to be done to the enemy. Upgrading to item 3706 /item 3707 would allow Talon to gain solid damage, armor pen and CDR for the mid-game. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure Riot was saying they expected to see some lane Smite builds come from this change, and I can't wait to see an all-Smite team.

I went against a four smite team. It took away a bit from their early game, but their dragon/Baron/Buff control was crazy. And mid to late game as they finished their machete items and regular kit they caught back up. Lately my friends and I have been running either support or mid smite as well. Takes some getting used to, but the map control is great.

i always wondered if Frozen Mallet would be good on Talon because every attack after the first one would deal 10% extra damage

Considering his E applies a slow for just long enough that you can land a basic attack...

That said, it's inefficient to get a more defensive item on an assassin. It works better on bruisers. That, and Talon already has two innate slows, so unless you're really bad at landing E and W, it's overly redundant.

Not worth it at all. Way too much of a waste of gold for no increased damage compared to buying a similarly priced it.

depends how you are playing talon if you are playing him as a assasin then it's not worth but if you are a top lane bruiser and you build a few tanky items i would reccomend buying this as your tanky item

I think skirmisher would be more interesting. It works with physical damage and Talon's bleed will extend the duration the true damage procs. Old elder lizard worked like that so skirmisher might do similar.

Talon's passive isn't worth building around. He's always been a straight up ad burst champ, 10% on autos is a pathetic increase when most of your damage as talon comes from abilites not aa's.

keep in mind that talon's q counts as a basic attack amplifier therefore the 10% still procs on it

Not exactly, talon's passive only amplifies the auto attack damage not the actual q damage. Here, from the wiki:

  • "Mercy does not amplify the damage from on-hit effects, such as Sheen or Noxian Diplomacy."

Definitely not a passive anyone should bother building around, especially when riven has practically the same passive except 5x stronger.

item 3707 in lane had better not be the next S3 Elder Lizard.
