Where did all the hate for Sylas go?

Loads of people thought that Sylas was going to be a balance nightmare, and that was all frontloaded before the release actually happened. Now, almost everybody has gone silent.

If you thought he was OP, what made you change? What were your opinions before and how did it change now?

He got nerfed when he got released but the 5 minutes it takes to look this up before posting a thread is too much huh?

His base heal at max rank was 250, his heal now is 190, it's getting nerfed down to 170.

Now imagine current Sylas with 250 base heal :)

He's simply too gimmicky to truly be effective. Even if his kit is completely overloaded that it makes Irelia look like Mordekaiser, he is so situational. Against some champions he's insane most notably things like Malhite, Urgot, Vel'Koz etc. But if his selection of ult targets include any transforming champion/spammable low c/d ult (Kog, Corki etc.) then he barely feels like a complete champion.

He's pretty much a last pick mid if you see enemies with a lot of great useful ults.

Exactly and the difference between a Sylas' kit when he can steal useful ults and a Sylas when he can only steal meh ults is ridiculous and probably means the champion can never really be balanced.

EVERY. NEW. CHAMPION.

Everyone's wondering how broken Kayle will be.

He's not really broken per se, but he's just really boring as a champion I feel.

Oh it's still there seething. I ban the fucker every game I have the chance Dude builds a single offensive item and inescapable 100-dead combos the cast or builds a single defensive item and facetanks entire combos while taking 20% max even without his heal into account.

The hate is still there. We're just waiting for the nerfs after sales flatten.

And then the buffs until he sees pro play.

And then the nerfs because pros only picked him when he was OP.

And then the buffs to try to strike a middle ground and keep him generally playable.

And then the "I guess we can't balance this after all" major nerfs.

Overall, I think Riot will be pretending his ult is a good design for maybe 2-3 years until they admit that there's too much variation in his ult's power. It can be fantastic to the point that it's even better for him than it is for the original champion (like Ashe's ult, with an AP ratio she doesn't use), or garbage (Udyr's, Kog's, etc.). Consistency is too important in a competitive PvP game like LoL.

And someone who's been chained up and starved for 15 years doesn't pop out of prison looking like that.

Also, he has Kayn's face.

He's already seeing pro play

Great. So, he'll get nerfed when sales flatten, then buffs again, etc., as I said. He won't be picked when it matters unless his basic abilities are strong enough that he doesn't rely on stealing a good ult. Given that his basic abilities are overloaded as hell, he'll need some pretty heavy nerfs (patch notes will say he's "a little too strong" or has "too many options" or something).
