Mage Update- Why So Serious?

Everyone I see posting about the mage update seems really concerned with burst mages. My understanding has always been that burst was inherently weak against tanks or TANKY items. I understand there are some AD items that give a little extra love against burst, but at the end of the day, most mages that are meant to be bursty can still burst pretty hard.

Has anyone played against a LUX lately?

I actually like the shift toward more accessible CDR and maybe a little less from raw AP. Burst champions always felt like a stat check to me. Did they have enough AP to kill you? If so, do you have enough MR to survive? If not you were dead.

Making more CDR available should allow people more access to their abilities, which intern means you don't need to hit QUITE as hard because you can hit more often.

Burst has never really been fun whether it was a mage, or an assassin. No one likes dying because you drifted a touch too far in one direction.

This will end up feeing overall better in the end. Just wait...

Every duel in League has an element of stat check. A Lux combo failing ot one-shot is no different than any assassin combo failing to one-shot or a bruiser/ADC failing to duel their target. If anything a Lux combo is much less a game of numbers because she can actually fail to kill you by missing stuff. You can't say that for an ADC, a bruiser or most assassins.

What's the problem with AP burst, exactly?
