Don't come into ranked unless you are knowledgeable at several champs in several roles. You WILL get autofilled eventually. You WILL have your favorite champ banned eventually. You DON'T EVEN HAVE TO NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT play ranked as soon as you hit 30 because you are for sure in your heart you are the next faker. Your one trick pony in blinds won't transfer over to ranked every single match. There's whole bunches of people that have everything blue essence can buy and have nothing else to do but grind our faces on ranked in this stupid game we can't quit because we're a bazillion years old and keep remembering that one time in season one that we took kog and anivia up top and had a blast.

[slayer-jinx-unamused] proceed to downvote and cry on about how auto-fill is unjust and you really are the next faker, but they banned your main, and that you other account IS faker!!!

Ok sure but why5 votes

At least they give subtle hints in Champ Select "PLEASE SWITCH ME IM AUTOFILLED SUPPORT" means they're gonna feed regardless of what role they get, so you can save yourself 15 LP and 30 minutes of your life by dodging

I main supp haha don't exactly see those too often....yet I still see "ermagerd autofill" people. what is my life? [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Not only support is autofill. Some can't play anything if their Yasuo is banned and they will not dodge. I do play as "fill" and most of the time i am getting support but also jungle and top.

I have always been a 1 trick, every single season since season 2 (wasn't in season 1 because I thought you had to be able to play every role). 1 tricking is literally the best way to improve AND gain elo, that's a fact. You can only get better at multiple champs at the same time and still climb in elo if you're a literal god. Stop being retarded and start 1 tricking!

That doesn't work.

If you're playing something poorly, you're just going to get stomped.

Better to be REALLY good at a few champs than just be average at multiple.

I think it's moreso just familiarising yourself with every role and a few champs you like so when the situation calls for it you aren't a complete potato.

Just maybe like a couple games here and there that are different roles/champs than usual.

People will still percieve you as a potato nonetheless, because it's relative. What's considered potato at gold might be considered passable in silver, for instance.

In every rank, if you pick something you aren't super good at, you are, in most cases, going to get shat on. This is because you're supposed to be matched with and against people of similar skill levels, and, in the likely case that those people get champs they main, you're going to have a bad time.

I would love being able to be more diverse in picks, but it's just not worth it unless you put serious effort into learning the champ

To be honest the one role I seriously seriously suck at is jungle. I'm great at Sona, and am really good in the toplane with Urgot, Yorick, and a number of tanks, and I can play passably as mid or ADC. But jungle... I just cannot grsp it. It was way easier way before, where I could pick Cho'Gath, get tanky, and show up to a lane now and then and press Q. But this hard-ganker jungle meta just does not mesh well with me at all

Remember the pre-role select times when everyone on the boards would say "don't even touch ranked unless you know at least the basics of each role"? Now everyone expects getting their 1 champion every single game and throw a tantrum when they don't.

I made it to my Gold promos in my first season of play (s7) just by OTP'ing Talon mid. Your argument is invalid. :^)

Seriously though, I understand that being an OTP can look bad. But so long as you actually know how to play the champion, have at least one back up plan and can play a couple of support champions it should be fine. In fact, being really intimate with the champion gives you the edge on the 95% of the games you play with them. Just be willing to dodge when needed. Don't be a douch and force a loss on your team just because you don't want to lose 3 LP.

Haha, last year I easily got to Gold, and this year I'm about to hit Plat, by nearly OTPing Sona support. If I'm not playing sona, then I'm toplane as Yorick or Urgot, but my Sona winrate is pretty high. During the occasional time I don't feel like playing Sona i just queue top. If Sona's taken away from me I just dodge, no biggie.

Really if your champ isn't some permabanned stuff like Yasuo or Zed then OTPing usually isn't a problem

Best thing about playing adc is when after 5 seconds in the lobby the supp is asking if he can go mid, and after mid says no he picks a full ap mage bot.

Just learn how to play supp imo, when I'm autofilled I play my best and don't try something troll.

I would honestly rather a mid main play a mage support than try something he/she is uncomfortable with. There are plenty of examples of mage supports that function decently on low income. Brand Zyra Velkoz These are not troll support picks.

But more bad players in ranked means more bronze means more good ranks for the rest of us that squash them...

[slayer-jinx-wink]

They won't always be on your team~

But they ARE! lol I had a HUUUUUUGE loss streak for awhile and it like like trying to break a wall down with my junk.

I don't really agree with this... I came from a different esport game called CS:GO, and there was a matchmaking system that placed you at your correct rank based on your skill. When I switched over to league, I saw that ranked was pretty much the same thing, so I just immediately started playing ranked after I hit level 30. I knew that I was going to be bad, but I also knew that the fastest way to get better at the game was to play against and with people who were actively trying to win and play their best. I ended up getting placed in Bronze III, and I got a lot of flame from people who made comments such as "You're the reason I'm stuck in bronze." and other ridiculous claims. After dedicating a lot of time and learning I eventually reached platinum after 8 months of playing the game.

To summarize, I'm basically saying that the ranked system will place you at the correct Elo based on your performance as long as you play a statistically significant amount of games. One person ruining one game is not going to make a difference.

except there's a metric butt load of people who think the same way and never learn anything. You can learn and apply stuff within the context of a single game, but soooooo many peeps don't and play the blame game like you said. I don't ask for a lot from peeps in ranked, long as you played well enough or can pull your shit together by mid game, but these people aren't doing that. Going 1/7/5 and blaming 12 other things despite what went on in the game.
