UNOFFICIAL Solo Queue UPDATE (via Ghostcrawler)

Thoughts?

I asked "What is happening with Solo Queue?"

Ghostcrawler said this: “We touched on this in Riot Pls and it was a very long discussion so I don’t want to re-hash the whole thing- but the answer is- we still have a lot of things that we have to fix in dynamic queue.

The long queue times at high elo are not acceptable, the ‘gaming’ of positions is not cool (meaning we owe players to do a better job there).

If we get to a certain point, and it still doesn’t feel like we are delivering what solo players want- then we are going to have to talk about- what is our next move? Right now solo isn’t off the table, we just have other problems we have to get to first.

While it would be a very easy solution for us to say ‘Yeah this is a failure, let’s just turn it off and go back to what we had before’ there are a lot of players that love dynamic queue.

Mathematically matchmaking gets very challenging if you don’t have those solo players to fill in with the 2s and 3s and 4s- so we are worried that we couldn’t have those two queues living at the same time without both of them having ridiculously intolerable wait times.”

I did my best to do a coherent transcript, and I feel I have accurately restated what he said in its' entirety. Full Q+A is here, my comment is at 01:27:10 or so https://www.twitch.tv/leaguecommunity/v/61847759

Which is why many solo players are neglecting to play ranked. That 'boycott' by solo players is extending Dynamic Queue times to 20+ minutes as low as even silver MMR in many cases.

Extremely high MMR players are being forced to all queue as 'Fill' and reverting to the old system of calling/deciding lanes.

Solo players are trying to make Dynamic Queue fail at this point because of how unsatisfying of an experience it is for many.

(Not my personal opinion, just what's happening. I would like a world where both could exist, as they both offer unique non-negative things compared to each other. However, they simply cannot satisfy both portions of the player-base with Dynamic Queue.)

How about we talk about where all the anti dynamic queue posts have disappeared to over the last few days.

getting a lot of 404s on refresh.

"Looks like the initial backlash has settled down (cuz we deleted all your f*ing posts) and players are super happy with dynamic queue!"

This is the biggest problem I have with the whole system. The system is USING me to do something I don't want to do. I don't want to play with premade, on or against. It's incredibly disrespectful to use someone to ensure others have fun at the expense of the used. It's basically telling me that my fun isn't as important to them as others. That is why I just straight up stopped playing ranked and buying RP. I refuse to be used and disrespected like that in something I do for entertainment.

I'm sorry to say this, but League of Legends is dominated by Bronze and Silver players (74%). By trying to accommodate the demands of inexperienced player Queue, the Solo Queue experience is ruined. While players who are much more intense about their ranks are leaving the game due to long queue timers 8min-40min on average from Plat 2+.

Sadly, League of Legends is losing it's touch after introducing Dynamic Queue. Yes, it is a positive change on the paper, but in action it has hard negatives. The biggest issue with DQ is that it is mixed in with Solo Ranking, where ideally it should have it's own Rank System battling out with other premades. Pro League players made what League of Legends is today and falling out of Love by sitting in 40min for their Master+ Queues.

No, there really aren't.

There are, however, a lot of players upset at both the forced changes and being outright lied to. We've gone from 100% solo queue is coming back to "its not completely off the table".

I think I might go on 'strike' as well. There seems to be waaay too much variance in the quality of players within the same tier and division. I was Gold II preseason then got back up to Gold II earlier this season and now I just can't win a game to save my life. The games I lose are very very frustrating and the games I win are very few and far between. As someone earlier said, 'I don't like being used for someone else's enjoyment at my expense' and that's exactly what it feels like with each and every game. Welp, time to do something productive until dynamic queue has most/all of it's problems worked out or it dies(which I sincerely hope for).

This is like...he's reading from a PR document or something. Or he is in complete detachment from the game..i don't know anymore.

I just don't think some of the core problems in the DQ are even solvable. Let alone good enough for people to queue solo.

You also missed the point where he (at least) acknowledges that DQ needs solo players.
