Elemental Dragons and Mordekaiser Discussion
So to keep League fresh, I tend to try different things. The elemental dragon update and playing against a few got me to try Morde in the Jungle. I'm not sure if it was a bug, ninja patched out, or I just forgot about/missed a patch note, but last game I played I didn't get an Elder Dragon ghost. Got a dragon ghost it just didnt have the insanely high HP pool or elder look, and I know I've seen and gotten the Elder Drag Ghost before. This got me thinking, why not let morde get the dragons as they are? Why can't morde get the benefits of the specific elemental drakes? Not just as a jungle buff, but just in-general. It would completely change the dragon priority with Morde in the game.
Cloud Drake - Probably really high priority at all points in the game due to its high MS/DPS and really strong with Rylais, but can't be solo'd early
Ocean Drake - High Early, probably the best if it is the first spawn. Very strong before you get rylais and not super difficult to Solo, but would be the worst after the rylai's purchase
Mountain - Easiest to take early but also the least impactful, late game tank
Infernal - Basically the same as current dragon
Elder - Basically must be denied at all costs unless you want the team with elder drag buff walking at you with a 14kHp tank that also does solid damage and applies the elder drag buff
When I was thinking about this, I also started to get a little bummed about the dragon differences. Infernal seems very bland out of all the dragons, and it is the most generally powerful one. The more I thought about it, Mountain and Infernal are largely considered the 2 best drakes and they are also the least risky to take. Air kicks the crap out of whoever is tanking it and will hunt them down, and the heavy slow on ocean drake means you dont really want to be contested because the slightest aggro screw up could botch a fight. So I was thinking Infernal and Mountain should be changed to stand out a little bit more and balance out the risk vs reward of the dragons.
Infernal - I would say have it apply a DoT but that probably was avoided initially because of Elder Drake buff, so why not give Infernal Drake a large Sunfire effect? Seems thematic and gives Infernal a unique difficulty, it damages your entire team and can make a contested dragon a bit more risky. None of the other dragons really have an AoE risk or theme.
Mountain Drake - My first thought was give it a unique spell that generated spikes of terrain that last until a short while after it has died or de-aggro'd to make it a physically difficult dragon to contest depending on where the spikes spawn, but thats not likely to be done. So why not give Mountain Drake a huge range buff? It fits with the Seige theme nature of the buff and the idea of Earth being persistent and enduring. Its the dragons thats going to take a while to kill, and once aggro'd everyone has to clear a wide area before it stops firing. It may be slow to attack, but it can hit you from outside of the pit if you don't full disengage.
I'm jungle main, not a Morde main. While I don't think he is particularly weak, I do feel like these changes would be a bit of a buff as well as adding a bit more decision making to Morde.
The dragon changes I think would make the Mountain and Infernal dragons a bit more interesting and distinct.
What do you guys think? Should Infernal and Mountain Drake be made more unique/difficult? Should Morde can any form of buff at all?
