If you are warned about a horrible match up, LISTEN and don't feed.

First off this is not a rant about feeders, we all know that is a problem that will be here forever. It is more about teammates not listening and being too stubborn. When in reality staying under turret, soaking as much cs and exp as possible even though completely behind WITHOUT feeding is 100% better for your team.

Played a game with a Riven top against a Volibear top. I have seen the match up before and by just thinking about it on paper, Voli is too tanky and has sustained damage, paired with his tank stats and passive riven CAN NOT kill him by herself, she will try while Voli shrugs off her damage and executes with his W. A friend and I politely warned her, and even with 100 hp against Volis 500 she stayed and got first blooded and then fed him over and over. He then left lane with 2 tank items and destroyed our team. Which forced us to surrender.

I have played many games like this before, I see a horrible match up when the loading screen starts and the first thing I do is politely say "This is a bad lane, you cant fight this guy, just be safe." But the person proceeds to fight, even after being EXTREMELY low and basically a free kill they do not return to base and eventually end up being free kills over and over.

One of the good things about league is the ability to counter a champion with another, whether it was random in normals or intended in ranked, you need to respect that you cant win everything even if you are skilled. And even if you are more skilled than your laner, jungle ganks are extremely easy when you have a low hp champion to bait while the jungler gets in a bush or quickly comes to clean you up.

TLDR: Learn your match ups and respect what the limits of your champion and the enemies champion can do. If you cannot beat them just farm and be a team player without feeding. You will be a much better asset to your team if you aren't a feeder. Build defensively and just stay alive, this will force your enemy to roam when they can not kill you. Which is good and bad, BUT you didn't feed them and you are able to push and get all the farm you want. All that is needed is MIA pings and maybe a chat warning.

A good Riven can beat a Volibear; stop assuming everyone who plays a "bad" matchup will feed. The good thing about league is there are actually not many hard counters and you can win 90% of lanes if you are good enough at the champ. And no, you don't farm under tower when at a disadvantage, you lose CS like that. You learn to freeze the lane outside your tower. And you don't push the lane if he goes to roam; you keep the freeze going to make the enemy top have a hard time farming safely.

Also, every game has people feeding, both on your team and the enemy team. How about you learn to get fed and take advantage of the errors you see instead of blaming teammates?

Actually you don't lose hardly any cs if you know how to farm under tower. Its very easy as an AD champion. AP is much worse and you probably will lose a lot then but hey the example is riven. Also counters will matter unless there is a noticeable skill difference, in a ranked scenario assuming you aren't a smurf you probably aren't THAT much better than opponent most of the time. Also you can't say as a general rule don't push when your lane is roaming, because if he tp'd bot for a gank or is assisting the enemy team on a dragon fight you better damn well be pushing for his tower

I'll leave a comment above explaining in greater detail, but the problem with this argument is that in low elo (which is where this will matter because high elo people will know when they are in a bad match up and what you say shouldn't affect how they are gonna play since they already know) many people probably don't know how to cs under tower, so they probably will lose out and come team fights get berated by the team any way for being useless.

I used to be really bad at CSing under tower, but playing Nasus gave me a lot of practice. I'm far from perfect, but I definitely saw improvement.

Thank you! Just yesterday, I played Kalista - one of my best adc's - in a Ranked game. I was paired with a Volibear support, but matched up against a Draven. Everyone knows Draven can outdamage Kalista, but even when I stayed under tower so I didn't feed, people yelled at me and raged for the initial feed of three or so kills(including my support's deaths), but nobody listened. They all said, "You can beat him if you're good enough" "You gotta have skill", and they raged and were so toxic towards me because I failed early game from a counter. It was so annoying.

While I think there is truth to this, it over looks a huge component that should be considered. In low elo (where this is most relevant, see the below comment), there is often a large skill gap between player if one knows the champ and the other doesn't. Many people will also pick a counter pick that is a bad match up solely because it is a bad match up for their opponent. If I'm on a champ I main and my opponent is playing a counter champ and it's bronze elo, 9 times out of 10 I can go even or win lane anyway because they haven't played the counter much and I know the match up. If you don't play the counter to take advantage of what the counter is then the disadvantaged player can still win. Now, this has the caveat that if you go to trade and they play it well and you lose the trade hard, you may be stuck asking for a lane swap or sitting tight with getting behind. However, you should always check if you can out play the opponent before you listen to the team about it being a bad match up.
