Ryze: When is Enough, Enough?

For those unaware, Ryze is getting yet another Rework slated for 8.9 Patch. I'm not sure, but I believe this is his 5th?

I think personally, that at this point we need to discuss "When is Enough, Enough?"

When do we decide, that having a "Machine Gun Mage" Thematic is just very clearly unhealthy for the game?

When do we decide that 1 Champion taking up so much time, energy, and resources that other champs DESPERATELY need is enough?

When do we decide that if an Ultimate needs a 5 minute long cooldown, it's probably too op to be in the game?

Maybe if this next Rework also fails, it's time to make those decisions. Failure to do so will reflect poorly on the Management of his overseers. But that's just my opinion.

Maybe, the rework after this one needs to completely shed what's always been the unbalancable Machine Gun Mage and create a completely different thematic for Ryze that actually makes him manageable.

So to the rest of the community and even those at Riot themselves, when do you think Enough, is Enough?

i dont think what breaks ryze is that hes a machine gun mage.

its more these weird gimmicks they put in his kit. like the massive shield that he can get. basically imagine they put a spamable shield on a marksman. youd have the same result.

I don't think deleting Ryze is an Option at all, in my opinion, he has a cool character based idea with his ''Machine Gun Mage''- Style. I personally think his Q W and E are fine now in the state they will be after the 5th rework, but i get your point on the ultimate. Ryze was always a guy who was either too good, too bad or too hard to play. i think he just needs a fair, strong but not broken ultimate.

Ryze is basically the OC of one of Riot's founders, so that should answer as to why so much time and resources are spent on him.

This is the final attempt at ryze, after which ryze/azir and similar super problematic champs in terms of the pro versus solo split are going to be put on the back burner as they focus on other stuff. Think it was explained in one of meddlers gameplay thoughts threads not too long ago.

I don't really consider the changes a rework versus heavy tweaks to his kit considering how many ground up reworks he's had. Still, this is supposedly their last attempt for the forseeable future.
