We Need to Settle Riven Down

Riven is a really powerful champ. I mean REALLY powerful. She is pretty much the AD equivalent of Katarina. Riot strives for balance, yet they allow Riven to consistently dominate top lane. A champion that has 2 forms of cc, insane mobility, obese steroids, a shield (scales off of AD, Rito logic), and an execution move (sounds familiar LeeSin) She needs some sort of nerf so she isn't an OP top lane goddess. My suggestions: Suggestion 1: Nerf her passive. Nerf either the duration or the steroid from it. 20%-50% bonus physical damage on a champion where that is very easy to get is very unfair to most top laners (outside of Renekton Gnar Rengar)

Suggestion 2: Give her a resource. Be it mana, energy, health, charges, etc... Please, make her use something so she isn't an infinitely sustaining powerhouse.

Suggestion 3: Change the scaling on her dash/shield. A shield that scales off of bonus AD on a AD focused champion is ridiculous. Even Riot's poster-boy, LeeSin, doesn't even have AD scalings on his shield.

I feel that Riven is much too safe of a top laner (even though she has no sustain, she can just buy some).

Shield scales off of Bonus AD, which she builds like crazy, can win almost every 1v1 because of cc, mobility and insane damage. Can escape almost as easily, with 3 dashes and a shield/dash

Riven is fine =/ At worst she's slightly better than the average melee top laner. Unlike Lee Sin, she's forced to build damage due to her low base damage. Her shield, while pretty massive, only lasts for 1.5 seconds or something, so it's not like it's completely broken. And of course, ranged top lane meta going on, last thing we need is for melee carries to get burnt again.

No, in the context of I'm forced to get 7 hours of sleep to be productive the next day. Sure, I could just get three hours of sleep to keep playing Binding of Isaac, but I'd be pretty useless all day wouldn't I?

If Riven just goes full tank, she does almost no damage since most of her damage comes from scaling (even her passive!), her CC output while notable still isn't great, and she has no self-sustain in her kit besides an AD Scaling shield that lasts for very little time. If I wanted to play Full Tank, I'd play Nautilus or Malphite or Singed or well, basically anything useful.

Comparing her to Lee Sin, a champion with built in life steal, mobility that makes Riven look like Anivia without boots, an execute with the highest base damage in the game, being able to shield himself AND an ally... It's simply not an apt comparison.

That's like complaining that you can't build like a tank on Draven or Twitch.

Or just play Garen, or Darius, or Teemo, or any number of people that can completely fuck her over. Not to mention that she's really easy to shut down in team fights (Hello, Sona ult; my name is dead Riven). If you're having that much trouble with her, buy her and start playing her. You'll quickly learn how easy it is to ruin her day.

PROTIP: Try to get 40% cooldown reduction, even if that means using two scaling cdr quints.

If you want an annoyingly safe top laner, look to Yorick.

Riven cannot win almost any 1v1. Equally fed, Riven can't do anything vs. autoattacking carries with a randuins and some sort of disengage or invulnerability. Riven isn't good because she can 1v1, she is good because she has very good AOE damage with mobility. Don't let riven get ahead, and you won't have problems with her. Once Riven falls behind, she's useless.

What makes her very different from Kat is that she has no CD resets on kill/assist and that she is AD. These are 2 very important points - no CD resets on kill/assist means that once she spends her CDs, she's not a threat anymore, and the second is, she can't itemize for both damage and utility i.e. no zhonyas, no rylai's.

Yea, Yorick's only counter would be Aatrox. I'll admit that Riven is really strong in the lower elos, but once people understand her and how to play against her, she gets beat by many players.

You make it sound like you're picking bad Champions into her and not playing against her well. Honestly, listen to the advice here: play her, and learn how to beat her that way. It works for every other Champion in this game, and it works for her.

Yes, she can sustain some with a vamp scepter.
But given the times I've faced Riven in lane, it's typically not enough without smart use of her shield. Her hp regen took a MASSIVE hit, and just a vamp scepter isn't enough to make up for it, it's not until you have a full built life steal item that you can overcome that blow.
