Why does a game that is almost 10 years old take over 10 minutes to load the map on a regular basis?

I mean 10 players sitting at 100% for 5 minutes is not uncommon... Why does this happen?

Every single map load.

Well they have updated the graphics and stuff a lot since then. It's probably beyond what was feasible 10 years ago. Although you can turn the graphics down, maybe that'd help make it load somewhat faster.

It never seems like it takes more than a couple minutes for me.
