Why 20 minutes to surrender?

So I have to say that while I love this game, your matchmaking system is by far the worst aspect of playing league. First game of the day, load up a ranked queue 5v5, game loads, one player never shows up, our jungler. 5 minutes later our support quits. So now 15 minutes to go and its 5v3 in a ranked game. What a waste of time. Take off the ridiculous 20 minute delay to be able to surrender, if not in every game then allow it pending certain circumstances.

This has been a complete waste of 30 minutes of my time that I have had to sit through because you cant leave a game, cant surrender, have to just bend over and take it and it shouldnt be like that when the game was over before it ever started.

Cheers

I think part of the reason is to prevent abuse where people surrender really early to give easy wins. It may also be because under most normal circumstances you won't know much before 20 min if you stand no chance at coming back.

That said, I think it is worth another look. Between afks, intentional feeders, etc... There are Games you want to surrender at 10 min. Possibly make it 20 min, or 10 min if you're behind by at least x (say 10 or 20) kills, or 10min if you have more afks than the other team (as counted by the number of surrender votes that would show up). Unfortunately the first point might encourage feeding to get behind enough kills though... :/

The reason they have the s@20 limit is that players give up easy. If you make the surrender limit 10 minutes, people will stop playing if something goes wrong at 5 minutes.

That said, I see no problem with the idea of creating an exception for when a player has left the game and isn't coming back. Something like "early surrender is available if a teammate has been afk for 5 minutes" seems pretty hard to exploit and makes life at least somewhat better.

Then you wasted 10 more typing a post :/

My advice is when you afks and ragers just cs and try out different build and have fun with it...Just because you can't win doesn't mean you can't learn something about your champ or improve technique!

The 20 minutes surrender are fine. Comebacks happends to many times. Every champion has their own powerspike (level, item, situation) especially in low elo this get triggered unintentionaly while in low elo is mostly coördinated. The thing is even when you are losing, the chance when utilizing this powerspike correctly can turn arround an entire game. But it get worse, this is just 50% of the comebacks. In the actualy 50% of the other cases it's simply because the enemy got greedy and made a crutial error that can get you back in the game while utilizing correctly.

So the real question is, why the hell do you want to surrender in the first place if you have like 10-50 chances to come back in those 20 minutes.

People all want to act like in diamonds where people are trolling arround 10 minutes when they realise the enemy is 10-0 simply because they known if they play correctly they won't take mistakes that often and that they already are building towards a enemy powerspike before it actualy happends. This leaves arround 10% to come back what probaly will result into a 50 minute game.

The problem with low elo is even without this leads the game always end arround 50 minutes. Just because they make those mistakes.

What I would suggest is that it's possible to surrender a game past 10 minutes if their are more than 2 afk's what actualy happends a lot lately. I wouldn't do it with a 4v5. Their are to many games won 4v5 in league.

Why not take 5 minutes off the surrender timer every time someone DCs

NEVER SURRENDER.

Just saying.

I've never played a game that I considered lost in less than 20 minutes.

Honestly I like how Dawngate did it where if 1 player was disconnected for 5 minutes then surrender vote opens for both team, if one team got a 20kill advantage surrender vote opens for both teams, if one team got I think it was like a 10-15k gold advantage, surrender vote, and then if none of those conditions happen at 20 minutes in surrender vote is open like normal.

I'd hate to see no timer on a surrender vote though because some people would be like 'gg gave first blood surrender vote' especially when a game starts with a good invade or something.

I think 15 minutes is a good surrender time. I feel that if you're really getting slammed that early, and you know for a fact that there's no coming back (the nooblord has 5 kills 10 minutes in) then you should get a mercy rule. If someone is DC'd for more than 5 minutes, you should also be able to surrender, and multiple forum goers mentioned a mercy rule where you could surrender for the enemy team with no penalty to them, but you still get the benefit.

Considering the ragers and afkers in bronze. This should be allowed just for that rank only.
