I Think This Patch Sent Me a Little Over the Edge

Hey everybody.

So i'm not going to pretend to be a great player. I've played since S3, i played all my placements and placed in Silver II, but for the most part i play league for fun because i don't have the time to practice. There are a few things in this patch, and recent patches that have kind of made me question riot a bit.

Jungle Timers? If you don't know, there are small hour glass looking symbols that come up over main buffs now 1m (i'm pretty sure) before that camp spawns. I'm assuming it works the same as the TAB count down, where you need to see the camp get cleared/clear it yourself.

Now, i don't even jungle alot right? This change hit me like a truck, and i have started to see why people are pointing out that RIOT is tuning the game for a younger audience. It blows me away that we have to put so many timers around the map. What happened to using chat log with time stamps? What happened to having to manage your jungle, and provide for you laners? Its almost mindless now, as if RIOT is taking the challenge away on purpose to force a different type of play style.

Build Paths. Build paths now don't really feel unique. With every patch, most of the time good items get changed (Don't get me wrong, MAW was ridiculous). I'm always willing to adapt to the meta, its something that everybody needs to learn if they take League even kinda seriously. Obviously, there are items to cater to every role Mage/AD or whatever your playing, but the paths are redundant and don't offer any reward for branching off.

It just feels like again, RIOT is kind of stream lining the game. Its all about those end game team fights, and those crazy Wombo Combo, 50 second death timer wins now. Before, it would take a bit more planning. People would play more around dragon, and they would focus alot on buff control and tower rotations. Now if you play normals people get dove under tower pre-6, and some players don't even know dragon is on the map, let alone what the special buffs are.

I don't know man. Let me know what you think below. If you disagree, be sure to explain why... i'm here to learn too.

What happened to using chat log with time stamps?

It was annoying and it sucked

What happened to having to manage your jungle, and provide for you laners?

That still happens, but you don't have to keep an egg timer next to your monitor to do it properly, and you haven't needed an egg timer for like the past 2 years since the timers were added, the only change is that they're revealing timers on both sides and putting icons on the minimap.

Its almost mindless now, as if RIOT is taking the challenge away on purpose to force a different type of play style.

It's really more like they're removing bookkeeping to allow for different styles of play around this information instead of it just coming down to "do you track this stuff? you win. do you not track this stuff? you lose."

Imho the jungle timers neing global now causes more conflicts and is quite fun. Having and fighting off multi man invades seem to be more fun.

Part of playing Jungler is dealing with your "lane". Its really not that hard to hit tab every now and then too see whether or not your buffs are up, or too see how much time is left. Granted, if you're not super vigilant, its a little difficult to gauge the time on when someone steals your camps when you're not looking, but adding global timers is absolutely ridiculous. It just adds more shit the Jungler has to deal with. Yeah sure getting a double/triple/however many off of a poor invade is nice, but forcing the jungler (and the surrounding team honestly) to deal with that on a daily basis is ridiculous. Why does everything have to be about conflicts and engages and flashy plays, or just plays in general? Why does this game need to go so quickly? Not every game can be LCS or legendary. If every game is legendary, none of them are.

not enough options. Haven't played enough of this patch but What I have of so far...I think Fid is shit. k Not shit but...his damage is uber bad early. It comes down to ur laner being competent and making use of your fear to snowball early.
