For most champions Conq Stacking on Spells is fine

For others Cassiopeia

Not so much. Just saying that a rune designed for bruisers should not be effective on a mage like cass

DPS mages needed a rune that wasn't electrocute or comet. Conq fills that niche. Whether you need to balance the healing (by taking it away from ranged champs) from the rune is another matter.

There have to be tradeoffs for having lesser burst and CC than some champs, though; and while Ryze breaks all these rules, Cassiopea does not. By design extended, sustained DPS mages should both be more durable and have more damage potential via increased exposure.

Unfortunately, the right mages that conqueror should work with, such as Swain and Vladimir, cannot make use of it.

One reasonable change would be for conqueror to ramp up stacks on its own while you are in combat, instead of through autoattacking and hitting abilities.

That way you can balance they keystone by touching its ramp up time to be appropriate and not abusable by burst champs.

I think it would be better if Conqueror somehow required the user to be either bruiser-level of tanky or melee to use optimally. It definitely needs to work with AP for magic-based fighters like MordekaiserRumbleShyvana though. However, champions like Cassiopeia do need at least one good DPS APC rune, and not something weird like Aery that seems to be designed for enchanters. I think Press the Attack could be made to better fit this niche. Maybe we could also get a ramping up AOE/DOT keystone in sorcery.

I think as soon as they made conq adaptive, it wasn't meant for bruisers anymore.

They just need to half stacks for ranged on spells. And then make a ranged/mage specific conquer that gives more power but less healing. Or the other way around

Why is Cass the poster child when Aurelion abuses it even more?

They just need to drastically rework the keystone. There are a multitude of champions that easily abuse it and it's not healthy for the game. The bonus healing and adaptive damage are way too high.

Just saying a rune designed for supports shouldn't be coopted into "electrocute but in the precision tree".

Except if its Riven. Each Q cast is a stack, and her auto is a stack. She can insta proc it better than anyone, the only person that beats her on that is Garen because of E.

Conqueror would be nice working on traditional tanks, since the healing and Adaptive damage boost really helps them become a tank as far as sustain and damage is concerned so they can be a threat. Unfortunately, tanks stack conqueror the least effectively, so Maokai or Sion can't use it at all. Believe me, I have tried. It doesn't work. Whoever decided to have Conqueror work equally on ranged carries, including the ability revamp to it, made the worse decision ever. Not only did it give mages a new rune to play with, the rune is far superior to any other rune due to the low cdr and ability spam most champs have today.
