We need a tank Update.

Surviving 2-3 seconds in a fight is not tanking... also my friend's exact words.

> "I'm uninstalling this pos unbalanced game" > "I will not be playing until after a tank update, if there is ever one"

Honestly if you ask me tanks are the most fun to play, sure you don't kill anyone in 0.5 seconds, but you have more time to make decisions. The real issue is that damage has been so sped up that tanks don't get to really survive anymore. Hell the other day I played a rammus game with 350 armor and 300 MR (rammus w), with 3.5k HP, and I still died in 1.5 seconds. Honestly how is anyone supposed to do anything other than button mash and go "I pressed my button first".

I also want to know: Why is the only in combat healing lifesteal? Why is warmogs considered the Cadillac of tank items, when you can't even get out of combat to use it? Why can't we have a 3k gold tank item that gives just tank stats? Why can't we have an item that gives %bonus tank stats besides a jungle item? Why can't we have anything other than "+ base hp regen" items when only people with poor base regen buy them.

I know Riot doesn't want it to be like season 1, where you could actually out heal enemy well, but come on, if I have 350 armor MR, and 3.5k hp, I really shouldn't be dying in anything less than 5 seconds. Not just that, but grasp of the undying is in a pretty bad place... and the little bit of damage reduction from bond of stone is useless. Third of all, not all tanks have a hard cc... how are they supposed to use Courage of the Colossus?

The last thing I have to complain about is that all of the tank items keep getting nerfed because of ranged champions using it to well...

|Perfect Example| ----- item 3053 and Graves

Make some god damn melee only items, and while you are at it, if you want urgot to be a tank adc... make him considered as melee for the purpose of items, including ravenous hydra. You could even make him the counter to yasuo with "ranged melee" attacks. The other option to having items fit tanks better is having melee and ranged versions of the stats. This would be just like how Knights vow is 5% less for ranged champions. Even just making Thornmail apply grievous would do something.

Lets be real here, the real issue with balancing is finding the happy medium between tanking and damaging. The balance issue is when building damage makes you tankier than building tank. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you obviously haven't seen yasuo build 1 lifesteal item, 2 crit items, black cleaver, sterks gauge, and a frozen mallet beat on a rammus with 4 randuins, a thornmail and ninja tabi.

Also, while we are at it, lets talk about tanks and movement speed, I get you want cc tanks to be slow, but what about champions like morde who have 325 MS, and no gap closers, what is that shit about? Meanwhile Lee Sin has 350 MS, and two gap closers that allow him to kill you at level 3...

All in all, I get it, people find tanks frustrating to play against because they can't #FlashTheirSkills and kill someone instantly, but lets be honest with ourselves. It isn't fun being nuked in .5 seconds because someone pressed their button slightly faster than you did.

While I understand how frustrating it is that tanks don't feel strong at all lategame, you kind of have to realize that if that gets fixed, most tanks are going to need significant nerfs to their midgame strength. If you've ever played a champion without an absurd anti-tank ability against someone who just rushes sunfire, you should know the feeling. As it is, damage dealers struggle against tanks until they have at least 3 items, but after that tanks might as well be worthless.

Then so be it

dont waste your breath. riot doesnt care and never fixes anything unless they can make money off of it.

Tank champions are so unplayed they could get money fixing the tanks so people buy the champions and skins.

Build. more. health.

You'll see a big difference.

But I agree tanks are getting the shaft right now bc it feels like every other champion has true damage somewhere in their kit or %health or both. then they get bork. It makes no sense.

You build hp you just see bigger chunks fall off at a time

Kilanost1 votes

to an extent, yes. But health is a generally undervalued stat especially with all the armor reduction/pen and true damage floating around. putting an emphasis on high health tank builds is much more efficient than high armor unless you are against a team with low true damage or you have a consistent source of shielding/healing that can be used throughout a team fight.

Until you run into a team with vayne, fiora, someone that even uses BotRK well, and ect... Fiora can kill you with pretty much just 1 passive hit and her 4 ulti hits.

There is a reason I ban vayne a lot and its not because she suddenly became OP. Yes, what you point out here is a failing I've posted on numerous times. You can't be giving people true damage and %health because there is zero counterplay to it. Are you listening Rito?

Also fun fact, mid season update for S7 is going to be a tank rework. BUT there is speculation that it will not be an overall good one for tanks as it was said in the context of teams going all tank being OP right now due to high base damage and difficulty in killing them.

So, fellow tank players, be prepared to switch to an assassin because apparently those are the only champions Rito likes enough to let win games....and adcs.

or we can go to dota where everyone can tank if you build tank.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Not undervalued ashp items dont provide enough resistances or hp itself to keep from loseing large chunks of hp and the only way for tanks to regain it is to get warmogs which takes long to activate or recall home. to use warmogs you have to get several health items with low resistances and either get chuncked or ignored for last.

This youtuber thinks it is i like alot of what he says though not much of what he thinks on certain balance state things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkqKT6x0q0U

I also disagree on his examples. Mundo is not a tank.

He could be made into a tank (given more utility) but he is not one currently.

Danjeng1 votes

What exactly does Mundo do then?

Ralanr1 votes

Just runs around and makes himself a threat because of how much he hurts. Kinda like juggernauts.

Danjeng1 votes

The answer was "he tanks".

Mundo technically doesn't offer as much cc as other tanks, but that's exactly what he does - tanks.

Ralanr3 votes

He tanks the same way a juggernaut does. Dude is a juggernaut.

He has no way of locking down targets and his only peel is damage.

Danjeng2 votes

Death is the best CC :)

LordGeovanni1 votes

Mundo is considered a tank because he is a juggarnaut before juggarnauts were a thing

No you aren't dying in 1-2 seconds

I'ma throw this out there, time for a tank to stay alive also depends on what MMR you are in. Bronze players live longer than diamond players in a nuke fest... So While you may not be dying in 1-2 seconds, that doesn't mean people in higher MMR's aren't.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Your mmr is gold, it's not very high. I wouldn't consider it valid, but that's up to you.

Bronze tanks don't live longer than diamond ones, because in bronze people focus tanks : ^) and let the yasuo deal damage for free and then QQ on reddit/boards : ^)

Danjeng1 votes

I find it very improbable that you are being killed in 1-2 seconds, unless you are solo diving into the enemy team 1v5.

Also Sterak's Gage is NOT a tank item. Tank ≠ Juggernaut. And gold really is not high, don't flatter yourself. I watched the highest level of play: LCS, and saw meatshields present in each team, proving tanks are still relevant in higher MMR (unless you are suggesting you are better than Faker?)

LordGeovanni1 votes

tanks in always in the front of the team even in a 5v5 the first person to take all 5 of the enemies damage is the tank so whether alone or around you would still get killed in 1-2 seconds

Danjeng1 votes

Alistar Zac TahmKench Volibear Trundle Sejuani Nunu won't go down that easily.

You can have a whole team beating down on one of these guys for at least 5 seconds. Upload a gameplay video otherwise to prove me wrong.

Is the update warden/vanguard specific or is for all tanks?

Ralanr1 votes

Vanguard most likely.

Pinelokauliar1S1 votes

I completely agree.

Walls(Tanks) can just be ignored especially if they don't have cc. tanks need to do some dmg so they can't be ignored and be somewhat focused so yeah tanks need to be able to go for the enemy backline and still be tanky most of the tanks if you go full defense you are ignored if you go 2 items attack you can't tank sh1t and some tanks even with tanky dmg build still don't do enough dmg and get the job done.just go aram and if you get a tank you will see you can't tank more than 2 people or even 2 ppl and you have somewhat equal footing in items. The reason I say this because if you take a non tank champion and you put him 3 mr and 3 pr + hp items he pretty much will do the same work as tanks, "being tanky" that is, so what is the point of even having the tank class. Another thing that is not good is that melee champions especially the ones with 0 gapclosers their base speed should be superior to ranged champions for chasing purposes, I know still there are thingssuch as items that apply slow, summoners buffs, circumstancial speed buffs in kits in some melee champions, reworks that help with that but still seems ridiculous for melee not having superior base speed and scaling. Now some1 will say you want tanks/melee champions to be fast LOL but I will say melee champions without gapclosers have tougher job than anyone plus most ranged champions builds will give them bonus speed so the gap further increases.I can compare it to Lineage 2 daggers were faster than archers cause if they weren't the would be dead all the time simple :D.

Off topic Now I will make a suggestion I will compare nautilus and teemo.Teemo is smaller should be faster/more agile/move his legs faster than nautilus but is he really faster?i mean nautilus is a titan 1 nautilus step is 5 or more teemo's steps you see where I am going with this maybe the game should introduce something like acceleration/agility to work in conjuction with size/speed. giving an example nautilus can slowly gain space at teemo in short distances and if he can't immobilize/slow him, teemo instead gains advantage in longer distances and escapes, also teemo has better startup. So smaller champions advantage should be agility/acceleration and attack speed(meaning faster animations those who doesn't require channelling of course) over the big ones, something that you can't say distincts them in early game unless they have boots and you don't but still meh attack speed is also low for these champions early game and you can't say they scale good enough late game cause come on all the attack speed comes from items.of course you take in consideration the nature of every champion but I suggest this as class characteristic. mages shouldn't be fast really cause they are not trained in physical combat, haven't trained their body etc of course things will vary when mages have ethereal forms or float in the air :P. Another thing would be introduction of casting speed for mages and attack speed and AD being irellevant to pure mages so the ap is the dmg the auto attack does but still would have to do changes in items and ap ratios to balance things. ad auto attack on pure mages is stupid really. I only talk base values and how they should scale later in the game and how they represent each of their classes and individually immersively and objectively

Sorry for the post most of it copy paste :D
