My friend tried to convince me that Kalista's passive was balanced and I was like...

In THEORY I'd agree that the passive is alright, but with the rest of her kit being an infinitely stacking twitch expunge that 100% synergizes with her passive and applies slow, her Q letting her use the passive without the battle context, free roaming wards, and an ult that is both a super good engage and a better thresh lantern for her support there's no damn way she's balanced in any way, shape, or form.
And even on it's own, the passive could use tweaking to become actually balanced. Right now the only counterplay for Kalista is hit a hard CC and 100 to 0 her before it wears off... not exactly the best thing for game health, the dash should get weaker at least if she gets hit by a slow.
Funny thing is, Riot has already taken a (Rightful) stance against "Disable you then burst you down before the disable wears off," champions.
As every new champion: Overloaded kit.
And every dash in the game should be weaker if the user is slowed.
"This message is endorsed by Ashe, the Frost Archer."
You gave the best example. If Kalista is based on mobility and Ashe is based on impairing mobility... why Kalista can wreck Ashe that hard? Shouldn't they neutralize each other?
Incidentally, Ashe is the main reason mobility creep is a thing
Yet they nerf champs like Veigar because of no "counter play".. gg riot..

Apparently they are looking at this, specifically that her passive shouldn't scale so well with AS. I don't usually have a problem with her personally since I main
and
, but I'm still all for this.
Does your friend beat off to #LCSBigPlays more than he plays the game? Alternatively, how many Kalista games does he have in his current match history? Either would explain a lot.
Edit: They also might be a Yasuo player so check for that as well.
Yasuo is not ranged, does not have infinite dashes for no cost (he has to dash to an ENEMY so he actually puts himself at risk sorta), and his entire kit isn't designed to shit over every melee champion in the game.
Vayne would be a better example
her passive would be fine If it was gated by a cooldown. And scaled distance with level. and NOT with items bought. so her leap would be garbage early game. good at 18. Simple as that. Same with her E. her E does like 1.5k+ easily to objectives its just disgusting. you can't outsmite her if you're against her. lol
Man, i remember defending Kalista...even after playing against her....then i played her and i was like "LOLOL this is so dumb"
haha, hahah very funny post! hahah haha!
I have yet to play Kalista though I have played against her and these are my thoughts...
((Me as Thresh, supporting Kalista))
-"OK, she is an ADC"
-"Is she supposed to not need peel like other ADC's because of all that jumping around?"
-"Wait? She can buy trinket wards and she also has a scouting ward built into her kit? Huh guess I don't need to buy as many wards for the laning phase as thresh."
-"Hmm, I wonder If I was playing a typical bruiser....how exactly do you NOT get kited? I mean she is even kiting forward!?"
-"Wait....did she just outsmite Dragon.....without smite."
-"Did her ult just make me untargetable, then move me to her and save my life? With that ability, her 2 free wards and her built in peel I wonder If she is actually both an ADC and a Support."
-"Im glad I had a choice in bonding with her ult, and its lovely that when she activates it I am given some kind of click prompt to agree to do the ult, you know like maybe some kind of big marker over her head signaling she has activated the ult and I can click her to begin. Because you know, being able to control teammates without consent isnt at all a 100% no-no in all multiplayer games. Maybe Blitz should be able to grab teammates, no way that could backfire."
These are my honest thoughts supporting a Kalista recently as a Thresh. I knew what her ult was meant to do I just wasn't aware that I had no control of agreeing to the bond and neither to having my character controlled so suddenly. It would be just as good if Kalista could press "R" and it would make a marker over her head kind of like how Azir is given a marker over dead turrets that lets him know he can click them to summon a turret. That way Kalistas partner could choose when to click her and activate the transition more timely. Also Kalista is scarily close to not needing a support at all. With 2 free wards thats really all it takes to cover the jungle entrances to bot lane, maybe 3 if the ADC is immobile like a Varus. But with 2 wards and the ability to dash in or out as long as a target is in range it makes her so safe at no cost. On top of that being able to save other players is what I'd call another support skill. even if it was meant to be a knock up offensive skill, it still allows her to save teammates.
Thats 2 support skills in an ADC kit right there, then she can use her stacks to secure any monster kills without contest thats now reaching into Jungler territory. All she needs now is for her spear skill shot to scale heavily enough with AD that they can call her a caster and she will be able to Pseudo-Fill any roll. And no I don't know her scalings yet I'm just naturally assuming no one was crazy enough to make her spear skill shot scale well with AD on top of the rest of her kit.
You know what? Dota 2 has had mechanics for teammates to control allies for years. The DOTA 2 proxy of Blitzcrank has a pull about 3 times as long, but it pulls the first unit hit PERIOD, including allies or allied creeps. The DOTA proxy of Zhonya's Hourglass can be used on enemies, and allies as well.
Just because it hasn't been done in league before, doesn't mean its a 100% no-no
(P.S. I know Dota 2 actually had these items probably before League did, but I couldn't come up with a better term to call them than the proxies of similar League things, because I haven't played DOTA for almost a moth now, and I forgot their names.)
Pudge, the guy with the hook, was in the original DOTA (the custom WC3 map that is). Tiny can also toss both allies and enemies. Not sure about the zhonyas analog, I only played DOTA 1. Chen? I think was his name, can teleport allies back to the base. There's a lot of troll potential, but trolls can already troll very easily in LoL if they really want to, so I don't see the harm in having abilities like it.
