This new mage update confuses me

So if I understand Riot's reasoning correctly, these new mage changes were made because they want to give people a reason to pick mages. But as far as I'm concerned, mages were already being picked and were doing perfectly fine before the big update. I can list a bunch of reasons why you need an AP mage on your team:

  1. Most (if not all) AP mages provide great CC for catching people out or for controlling/zoning.
  2. They can burst targets down just fine if they're not super behind
  3. If you pick 5 AD champs then you automatically lose if the enemy team stacks armor

Don't get me wrong - some changes actually made sense. For example, now Vel'koz actually has a reason to build AP because his passive now scales off AP. But with some of the other changes, you can 100-0 three out of five players on the enemy team even if you're behind (I'm looking at you, Brand and Malzahar). Did Brand even need a buff? He's been one of the most popular supports this season because (quote) "he deals tons of damage and has CC to back it up" (endquote). Now he's just getting even more damage slapped onto him?

RIOT: How am I supposed to build against anything nowadays now that everything either does % max health damage or true damage?

The juggernauts were a problem last season because you kept giving tanky champions with CC high base damages and % health damage/ true damage. Tanks shouldn't be doing the most damage in the game - they should be able to soak damage and have CC to disrupt fights. But I digress - you're just doing the same thing with mages. You're giving some of the highest burst and utility mages even more burst just so that they can blow up juggernauts (oh, and everyone else in the match) - damage that you CAN'T build against with 6 item slots + the items currently available in-game.

I agree with some of these changes, but others are just way too ridiculous. Even if you are 0/10/0 with Morde, if your team gets Elder Dragon and you whacked it once, you will automatically be getting the enemy team's inhibitor turret and possibly their nexus. Malzahar is now perma-banned because he can solo dragon at level 3, and as you can see at 0:10 seconds into this video, Malzahar (with no items) nearly kills Katarina (with 2 HP items) with a single skill: https://youtu.be/jYy4oC5hSRU?t=13s

Fun fact: If you are playing Brand and the enemy team is doing Baron, if you press R and then E, chances are you'll steal baron and get a penta because his new passive (the time bomb) stacks.

Don't even get me started on the 20-minute Rift Herald buff... I already have Guinsoo's+Bloodrazer junglers being STRONGER THAN BEFORE to worry about. TL;DR - Riot literally W T F??

I'm sorry but Malzahar NEVER needed this change.

The only thing he ever needed was that new passive he got, which is, actually REALLY good on him.

What they should have done was slapped that new Passive onto his ultimate so when he uses it he is immune to CC while channeling, but whatever else can cancel the channel. Like .. death lol.

Malzahar should have gotten base damage on his skills lowered by a bit, and AP ratios increased by a bit.

His voidlings should have been kept AS his passive, but ALSO got some buffs, like they do now, attacking an enemy spawns a new voidling with the same remaining time, that way we have to build spell charges, then release a voidling, which will then turn into a voidling swarm.

But nah, they literally made him BUSTED. He is my FAVORITE champion in this game and now I can't even play him in ranked that's how busted he is.

Brand isn't broken.. He is kinda easy to deal with.

The only champion they are giving true damage is Vel'Koz, which he already had, and that extra damage is attached to his ult, and only after he already his you with spells (which deal magic damage)
