I don't understand the complaints about 50% winrate. At all.

If you are at 50%, that means you are right where you need to be regardless of rank.

If you were better, you'd climb regardless of bad teammates or bad games every now and then because you will almost always be consistently better than your current rank, which out numbers the handful of bad games.

If you were worse, you'd drop because you don't belong there and again the consistently worse performance would outnumber games you got carried.

If it's 50%, it means your average performance is right where you belong regardless of the games where your teammates do good or bad.

If you're stuck at a rank you don't like with 50% winrate, that means you need to improve yourself if you want to climb, not bitch about Riot rigging it against you.

There's a reason people say to duo if you want to climb. It's about getting carried to overcome the average difference. That doesn't mean you belong in whatever rank you get to, and if you don't belong, you will drop anyways until you go back to a 50% winrate or so, so it doesn't even matter.

And for people who have 55-58%+ winrate in Challenger I or such, that just means they are still better than the average for that rank/Challenger I isn't technically high enough of a rank to properly place them. Also that with the fact said Challengers would continuously play against each other.

It's less about 50% and more about how that 50% is obtained. I'm not going to say it's completely matchmaking's fault, but so many games are complete stomps whose outcomes become obvious after three minutes.

This right here is why the 50% rule is dumb. RIOT says the matchmaker creates matches giving both sides a fair chance to win. That is bullshit when you have stomps. A real competition would not use win rate as part of the algorithm. It should not force losses like it does with wipeouts to keep a person at 50%. It's nothing more than a slap in the face to true competition.

This too is also bullshit when there are wipeouts and you are clearly the only skilled player on your team. It happens a lot. Fair is taking the win rate bullshit out of the algorithm. Talk numbers all you want blah blah blah. Numbers can mean anything you want them to mean. The reality is wipeouts happen too much and they always come after a long winning streak. It's trash.

The problem is people think outcomes are obvious after three minutes.

Also about the 50% thing, it's not that Riot is trying to give you a 50% winrate, it's them trying to match you against people of your skill level. If you have above 50% win rate then you're climbing and facing opponents with higher MMR than before.

They aren't trying to make you lose, they are just trying to give you more challenging opponents to match your skill level. It could actually be taken as a compliment because the system thinks you are good and deserve to play at a higher ranking.

If you don't want a challenge then don't play ranked XD It's whole purpose is to be competitive.

I agree completely.

I think it's because people have come to care too much about winning. They optimize around it and the game loses its fun. If people focused on improving themselves and enjoying the complexity of the game things would be much better. (IMO)

Except... MMR places you vs your true rank. So if I am Bronze 1 but vsing SIlver 1 and holding 50%... why the hell am I still bronze 1.

silver 1 facing gold 1's and plat 3's for promo's. Total wipeout shut down games.

Oh right, for some reason most (not all) promo games are paired up with even higher rank than normal ranked matches. You can argue it is to prove you deserve to rank up... but normal matches are already at "balanced" MMR so what the heck am I playing.
