15% healing on crits.

So, Pantheon heals for 30% his AD whenever he lasthits.

k

edit: did not mean this as "op", I enjoy having the baker in my games as much as the next guy

Infinity sustain in jungle, nice.

MrSexyHobo2 votes

he didnt already have infinite sustain in the jg? he takes like 50 damage per camp and heals that same amount from machete

Battlecast Sona3 votes

uh, no. Pantheon takes way more than 50 damage per camp. Blocking a single AA every 4 attacks/spells is not as much sustain as you're assuming...

Nightshade174 votes

Finally, something to return him to top lane...Since juggernauts I've seen maybe 2 pantheons in my games.

blueberrypancake3 votes

Yeah I'm actually ok with champs like Pantheon being strong because then I can make a real argument for Taric Top as a counter pick and still completely neutralize him

And not to sound sarcastic and sadistic I actually like laning against his Q and finding away to trade against it that's effective

Sorta like an Annie but AD

Ralanr3 votes

Basically you like to think of strategies that work against very powerful brute force?

elon wątroba1 votes

Pantheon used to be strong counter pick against prerework gp, and i think he's still good vs new one.

Harrada3 votes

I would rather have Deathfire Touch, which is good at all stages, than something that is only good for laning phase and when an enemy is at 15% of their hp.

Catastrop2 votes

Does that Deathfire have a cooldown? I keep forgetting to ask because it doesn't state.

Harrada1 votes

I assume not, since it doesnt say, but who knows, when its live.

ChaosThief2 votes

It does not.

The crit healing is still pretty good in the late game. he would be able to sustain up, with out needing to go back to base.

But combined that with the mana sustain from the new ER. Pantheon might be pretty good.

Harrada3 votes

The problem is with late game, unless you are building crit chance, its entirely reliant on having something below 15% hp to Q. I would rather have the guaranteed +50% AD bleed damage every time Q.

Ralanr3 votes

Hmm...this calls for experimentation. Perhaps both are great and it will fall down to preference?

God I hope that's a thing. Basing masteries on preference.

Spoofghoul3 votes

You forget meditation, now you can go full offense tree and get meditation.

Warlords bloodlust + Meditation Pantheon incoming.

This will be really good for Pantheon as it gives him awesome sustain. Pantheon as an extremely strong earlygame champion relies on keeping up his momentum and map pressure. And this has always been gated by sustain issues, which he will no longer have.

Ralanr1 votes

We'll have to wait and see.

SoMNia2 votes

Meditation is in the same tier as Merciless. He could just rush Essence Reaver. Then he'd get mana AND health from crits.

Ralanr1 votes

Then add the new trinity force. Really he'll just need those two items and then he can build tanky. I'm so excited to experiment.

SoMNia1 votes

Oh, yeah. W+auto into E will be even more devastating. The other option is Black Cleaver and IBG into tank, maybe with Titanic Hydra. Both give plenty of mana and 40% CDR.

Killer of Poros2 votes

I honestly think the Deathfire will have more of an impact since panth would rather go for damage than sustain.

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

The thing is, Panth already has damage, and is capable of both poke and all-ins. He is only gated by sustain, you beat a pantheon in lane by making him go oom without killing you. Getting sustain on him would be covering his only weakness, making him a lot likely to snowball his lane (which he's already good at anyways).

Ralanr1 votes

Only weakness?

Lack of an escape comes to mind.

Killer of Poros1 votes

Pantheon goal isn't to sustain in lane but snowball as hard as possible before the enemy team begins to try and counter him. The deathfire mastery would give him so much more potential to snowball which would help him before late game comes rolling in.

Boulderox2 votes

ummm, one second, can we please talk about how he will be able to actually sustain himself in terms of mana, he is gated awfully by mana, and jung panth is very reliant on blue buff. With the removal of mana pots, and even with the hunters potion (i think?) I still feel he won't have that much mana sustain without his blue buff, and without a manner to get anymore besides recalling, and wasting a huntes pot for only mana is kind of a problem in the long run as pantheon would need the mana more than the hp in the long run, even shown more with the heal on crits.

Ralanr1 votes

Essence reaver and crit building might help him, but the more I think about it, the more I realize how difficult it'll be to build those items without snowballing.

Time will tell.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

there's more mana sustain in the jungle now (jungle items gives mana regen just for being in jungle, not for being in combat with camps, not sure if this is just tooltip error or an actual change though haven't tested it).

dangopee1 votes

It does have a 2 second CD though.

Asayake 5150glow1 votes

His jungling is good enough as it is, his passive is pretty good. Main problem would probably be mana, but because he won't have to use his skills to clear the jungle...

SoMNia1 votes

In the jungle, it will be 46-50% AD. New jungle items give lifesteal against monsters.

Remlap12231 votes

Yes, let's give the champ that can literally jungle without health pots from his passive passive sustain. FUCKING BRILLIANT!

Rito, plz, just give Pantheon some late game utility buffs. That's literally all he needs.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

Plus his new thing that lets him block things. I don't really know what it is but Teemo and Jax also have it.

Ralanr1 votes

His block passive. Teemo has a blind and Jax has a dodge. They all allow for similar effects but they do it in different ways.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

I know there was some weird new effect those 3 have in Season 6. I can't remember what it was, but Meddler commented on it saying it was a huge buff for those champions.

Ralanr1 votes

As Anomander said above, the block, dodge, and blind, will now effect empowered autoattacks with CC effects. For example: Pantheon can block Garen's Q and not be silenced when this comes live. At the moment he blocks the damage, but gets silenced.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

Oh, okay. I didn't really understand what it meant when I saw it.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

it's a really strange, really uncommon thing but it did make a few matchups that seemed like they should work one way go another (Renekton vs Jax is basically impossible for Jax at the moment on live, becuase W goes through dodge). Very minor, very specific interactions but I'm interested in seeing how this will help Jax and Panth (Teemo to a lesser extent because he has other problems right now)

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

Terms is getting kinda fucked with the Hurricane changes and Jax is losing Trinity Force, but Panth now has the aforementioned mastery as well as this interaction.

Slamurai Jack2 votes

You're out of your mind if you think Jax isn't going to build Triforce anymore because of the changes. If anything, he'll drop botrk, not Tri.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

I didn't say he'd drop it, I'm just saying it's pretty crap now. For example, if Tiamat was nerfed, it would be very bad for Riven and Fiora, but they would still rush it because it's best in their kits.

Anomander1 votes

Will not block added effect's Like leonas q stun.

Sire Hippington1 votes

And doesn't pick any of the other sweet masteries like aditional burst, more potent spear-poke, aditional mobillity etc... In an actuall fight, it does nothing, as when he crits, he usually kills, which means the fight is over. And his early laneing is more than potent anyway

Kuroi861 votes

All are good options, it's just that the crit mastery is going to give him significantly more sustain in lane.

Kuroi861 votes

Warlords Bloodlust, Essence Reaver, Cull. I honestly think you're going to see a resurgence of Top lane Pantheon and some mid lane Panth as well. Essence Reaver, Phantom Dance, Death's Dance, you might see these items pick up a lot of popularity on him in damage/bruiser builds. The preseason is going to be a massive buff to Panth.

Ralanr1 votes

So excited!

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

when this next patch comes through, that day shall forever be know as "the day Crit became the most important stat in the game". I have so little clue on how this new patch is going to affect my MonkeyKing. I know my Tank Wu is going to die again (right after I just got item 3742 item 3748 for him too ;__;), but my normal Wu, no clue whatsoever... I'm hardly understanding the new masteries enough to know what to give him, let alone what items to use in game. I just have a bad feeling I'm going to have a lot of Item sets to redo if they don't reset entirely [zombie-nunu-bummed]

The Patriachy1 votes

The key thing is that top lane can also buy some crit and sustain off the wave. His q harass might not do enough and he can't buy mana pots anymore.

If that is the case, it will turn into a farm lane. Pantheon doesn't have a good late game.
