Taking another long break from the game
I am going to try and not bitch, and moan, and throw senseless reasons around... I have done enough of that over the years. This is my opinion, and my opinion only: I think that how much you enjoy this game depends on how easy you conform to Riot's vision of the game.
First, you would enjoy the game more if you are willing to play different champions. As the meta changes to whatever champions Riot wants to be strongest at that time, you'd be better of doing (basically) what Riot wants you to do. It feels like they hand pick a lot of the meta nowadays, and if you join them rather than trying to beat them you will be taken care of much better. Just think about the champions that have been strong for MANY patches in a row, meanwhile Riot was hesitant to ever nerf them properly. Why gripe about it when you can just join in on the Riot created and maintained meta?
Second, if you main some of the poster boy/girl champions on Riots roster, you won't ever be neglected like many other champions on the roster. When will you ever see
in an unplayable state? Never.
Since I started playing League of Legends In Pre-Season for Season 5 I quickly fell into a trap: I one-tricked a champion, and not one that Riot particularly prioritizes or builds a meta around.
has always been nothing but a cheese pick, because he has never fit into a meta. The closest thing for him to fit into a meta would be the assassin meta. If enough people are playing squishy champions Wukong can excel, but as we saw last season Riot does not want Wukong to fit ANY meta; as soon as he began to do well for a change they gave him a trifecta of nerfs (stats, runes, items). I am tired of playing the underdog, and sad that the game has become less about options and more about following the strongest meta. There is always a meta in every game out there, but Riot creates their own meta, and although everyone knows what is busted they choose to not nerf it properly. There is something wrong with this system, and you have to be someone outside of the box to see it. I love this game, but the game does not love me, or the champion I play, and it does not appreciate the time and money I have put into it. My voice does not matter here, and the voices of every other Wukong main does not matter either. For this reason I think I will choose to take a long break from this game, hoping that if I wait long enough the game will feel exciting and fun once I return.
