You know who I haven't seen in a while?

Kennen , seriously. I literally haven't seen him in any of the last 200 games ive played. I haven't been playing the game for too long so can someone give me some sort of the history of Kennen? Did he used to be strong and get nerfed to crap? Why don't I ever see him?

Or for that matter, why don't I ever see Aatrox ,Ashe ,Azir ,Brand ,Chogath ,Diana ,Galio ,Gangplank ,Heimerdinger ,Karthus,Lux ,Malzahar ,Mordekaiser ,Nautilus ,Olaf ,Pantheon ,Poppy ,Sejuani ,Shen ,Sion ,Sivir ,Skarner ,Swain ,Taric ,Teemo ,Trundle ,Tryndamere ,Urgot ,Varus ,Velkoz ,XinZhao ,Yorick , or Zac . First off, obviously some of these champs have been viable and just arent as common so don't go crazy. I'm just trying to make a point. I've been playing for about 2 years now, and its been pretty much the same 30 champs always.

Look Riot, its season 5 now, can we see some changes finally to balance? The meta shouldn't be based as much on champion strength as it is. It should be based upon popular item builds, strategies, common tactics/lane combos, objective strength/power, and simply what is happening in the game. Thats what meta is. If meta works the way it is supposed to, then you should be able to actually counterplay and pick different strategies to play against other teams. For a long time, its been very set in stone.

Aatrox, Mordekaiser, and Galio are the only ones I agree with. The rest I see with relative frequency. Then again, I play mostly normals.

The champs you listed are infrequently seen but its just how the system works. Some champs are popular for a little while, then fall out of favor to other champs. It was only a few patches ago where Trundle was a super-popular top, and Shen sees a lot of higher level play.

They're balanced champs, their just not super strong given the popular champs inhabiting many team comps right now.

Diana I've been seeing with increasing frequency (4 in the last three games I think, with skins?), but that could just be because she's free.

Give some time for the season meta to develop.

Play ARAM, you'll see them all.

Well some of these guys you don't see because they're expensive as hell to save IP for, and most people who buy RP go for skins since that's an RP-only thing. People who play 50+ games saving up for one of the many 6300 IP champions you have listed play one less expensive champion for those 50 games, get used to playing them, and then use that champion as their main rather than the one they just saved for.

So sometimes it's not popularity, it's affordability.
