The New Zeke's Herald

6/29 PBE Update

Is this an early draft of what Riot plans to do with Zeke's Herald, or is this set in stone?

I love the influx of base stats this new version will give to all supports, but I'm not sold on the extra %crit chance and temporarily-shared bonus stats.

The extra crit chance is likely to end up wasted after mid-game, and it's completely useless on most supports. I might try it out on support Gangplank because he scales well with crit and AP, but I don't want crit on any "normal" support (mages and traditional).

The AP will likely make Zeke's a completely situational build (you won't want to waste AP on Draven, for example) that likely won't pay off even with a support/ADC combo that actually synergizes with crit and AP (ex: Ezreal and support Gangplank, support Pantheon, a support ADC, etc.) because those stats are temporary and will be difficult to use appropriately due to their trigger— any form of damage. Most ADCs like to poke, meaning those stats will not be used efficiently (one or two ADC pokes versus all the damage the support+ADC could put out in a real fight).

Why not make the bonus stats an actual user+bonded ally passive, and change the crit chance to AD? AD can at least help a non-autoattacker support push and do a little extra damage between combos/poke spells (versus crit only working on very few niche supports), and making the stats a passive would make them far more useful (neither partner would have to worry about wasting the temporary stats, so they would be free to poke). The bonus AP and AD could increase over time (to a cap) as the bonded champions spend time near each other.
