Frustrated from trying to find a champ that fits me

I have played this game for a long time (I started playing this game in 2013), and I am at the end of my rope trying to fit in in season 9.

In the past I have played tanks (drain tanks were a favorite), heal/shield supports, and generally tried to stay alive above all else. The game hit rock-bottom for me in the Season 7 "Assassin Meta". I did manage to enjoy Urgot right after his rework (Ranged tank with an execute? Yes please!) and mained him from then until his nerfing due to being deemed too strong in Pro. Now I am several months into this hellhole of a season, and don't know what to do in this meta.

In Solo-Q, the game is now based around snowballing, early game champs and a game ending in 30min or less. I understand that it is good for Broadcasting but it sucks for most of the strategy around Champ select, and the strategy of League in general. There are no more trade-offs between Tanks vs Early-game warriors (think Rek and Darius), or scaling ADC's (Vayne, Twitch, etc) vs Early-game (Ashe, Cait, etc). Pick the champs that win lane with just one item or even just win lane with their kit, get plates and GG.

The S9 Snowball-Fiesta is directly opposite my play style. I want to farm for 20-30 minutes, then get objectives.

Any Suggestions?

How important is having CC to you? Would just staying alive be an acceptable option?

If so, may I suggest Illaoi? Not necessarily a tank or even tanky by any means, but her sustain is pretty insane if you can hit a champion or spirit with multiple tentacles. Unfortunately her only CC is the slow on her E, but here's a little fun trick for you ... because her E doesn't deal damage or CC the champion it hits, enemies will not be interrupted while backing. And since their fountain will be outside the escape range, they will be slowed for a bit and a tentacle will spawn in their base. That might give you a little extra time to farm (which she does well).

If CC is more important than the sustain itself but you still would love to have some form of safety, Malzahar is your guy.

EDIT: In general, battle mages and juggernauts seem like they would work for you in this meta; just need to figure which ones are good at farming.

Those days are pretty much gone, and probably never to return. For tanks, I would avoid not building any damage because resistances have no late game scaling right now.

Most of the late game dps champions have received early game buffs to compensate for the meta. I would say damage takes priority over defense right now, even on tanks. However, you don't want to neglect resistances entirely.

This is one of my least favorite seasons as well, as I don't enjoy playing any of the champs that thrive in this meta.

If you succ like me play Vladimir

Bonus is that you can 1v9 on him if you play safe enough. He kinda fits in this shit-storm of a meta.

If you wanna learn things watch Elite500 on twitch now and then.

I feel you man, I really enjoy tanks and enchanters but alas, i cannot play them effectively this season. Ive had some luck with Fiora Top and Udyr Jungle; I think you should perhaps try out another role and look for a champion that is your style -- just because the META is early game doesnt mean you have to play early game champions, its a game after all.

Play more than one champion. Problem solved.

I play Darius Evelynn Ezreal Jhin Kassadin LeeSin Lucian Pyke Qiyana Swain Sylas Talon Thresh Yuumi so I'm never at a loss for finding a champ for me.

Oh forgot to put TahmKench in there somewhere.
