Looking for Talon mains

Fatalitý··1 votes·1,080 views

I like to think I main Zed and Yasuo in the mid lane I both find them very fun to play and very good also I find them very easy to play as. I also want to start playing some more Talon because I think he fits in with this group of assassin AD mid laners. How ever I'm finding it quite hard to play.Usually when I play Talon I either do Just average or don't do so good. I just want to know a couple things about him that will help me play him better.

  1. What do you max first?- I usually max Q on him first because that is his main damage and it scales very good, but I am finding people telling me that maxing W is better. I can see why people max W against Mages and Long range champs for the harass. But should I always max W or only against certain champs and if only against certain champs, what champs should I max W for?

  2. What champs is Talon very good against and What champs does Talon do very poor against?- When I play talon if I'm against another AD assassin mid I most of the time win the fight (Zed, Yasuo, Riven etc.) But I struggle against mages who if you get close too can do a lot of CC. (LeBlanc, Lissandra, Fizz etc.)

  3. Very basic Average full build on Talon- What items should he get every game and what would an ideal build look like on him.

  4. Just any tips you'd like to share

Thanks for any one who responds!

Max W. It gives you much needed waveclear and poke vs ranged midlaners. You absolutely need to max it so that you can shove the wave quick so that it enables you to roam. You cannot all-in a midlaner without any items before poking them with W. Just max W please.

Talon does well against mages that are skillshot reliant or mages that have weak early games. He can usually outmaneuver them and dodge their skillshots, or get straight in their face and not make them unable to abuse their range advantage. He is weak against champions that can punish him early. He can be abused very hard during levels 1 - 3. During this time, you usually want to be using your autos and an occasional W to farm if the matchup is really hard. At level 4 you can start using W to harass the enemy, since the damage you get is now worth using the mana for.

Ranged mages generally do not do well against Talon. They don't have the damage output early game to bully him during his weakest point. They usually try to auto attack harass you early. Just stick to using W to farm from 1 - 3. Then start poking them with W once you have 2 points into it. You should be able to kill them if they're like half health and you have ignite. Champs like these are Lux, Ahri, Azir. Be wary of different kits. Champions like Cass and Syndra can bully you hard from level 1 - 2 with their abilities and autos.

You usually force them to rush a Zhonya's, reducing their damage output by quite a bit, but making them really hard to kill. Go for ADC in fights if they rush zhonyas.

AD assassin matchups vary, but it's usually slightly tilted in the enemy's favor and based on skill.

Riven matchup is hard. She shields all your damage and deals way more damage than you levels 1 - 3 assuming she's competent. She goes super aggro and burns all her abilities everytime you go for CS so she's pretty easy to gank. Call your jungler when you're level 4 or even earlier if your jungler has good lockdown + damage like Rek'sai or Maokai.

Yasuo matchup is skill. If you can manage to shove minions and get lane control vs him, you can fight him in your minions easily. Just autoattack and use abilities on him. He is also insanely easy to gank.

Zed matchup is skill. He can poke harder but you can outdamage him level 4 in melee trades. He is easy to gank if he W's in, but he probably never will. In a straight up level 6 duel, save your ultimate for when he ults, and then stay invis for as long as you can so he can't get damage for his ult.

Good builds for Talon are armor penetration. Tiamat + brutalizer + last whisper is the core build. Just build for however much gold you have. Upgrade into Youmu's and Hydra later when you have gold. For last two items you can get Merc scimitar, Infinity Edge, or Bloodthirster if you're just stomping and don't care. You can get GA if you're a huge threat and get focused hard. It's all situation. Getting a crit with IE pretty much is an instakill.

good luck. too lazy to list combos.

  1. Max W first as is does do more damage then the Q does then max Q then E

  2. Talon is good against immobile mages

  3. Start Get item 3134 and then item 3074 Final build would look like item 3031 item 3031 item 3031 item 3031 item 3072 item 3035

I'm not a "main" by any means, I'd sooner call myself a Nami main. But I am more naturally drawn to Talon than Zed due to his mechanics being simpler. But I max W typically so I can farm up and have some form of ranged harass. Then I max e second. But good Yasuos will wind wall your W, so maxing something else may be ideal, probably E?

2: I find Talon is good against people who don't like having someone get up in their face, like Vel'Koz ora Lux who missed her Q. Even Veigar if you can blink past the stun. The brutal matchups is anyone with range and who you can never reach. Primary offenders here are Ziggs and Azir. Freaking Azir, man. Right off the bat. if you even dare to CS a minion, he'll chunk you for half health with his soldiers, so you can never all in him. But once you hit 6, more opportunities will arise.

3: I typically go Tiamat first for the active and waveclear, then go for mobi boots, black cleaver and youmuus.

Mobis are good to roam, especially when mid lane refuses to feed

  1. most of the time you want to max w for wave clear anpoke. Just don't use it too often in the early stages of lane. Maxing q first is very situational. A good time to max q first is when you're against enemies that constantly want to skirmish with you but most of the time it's better to go with w.

  2. Talon doesn't have many good match ups since his silence nerf. He used to be an anti mage but he's not so much anymore. His match ups usually range from moderate to difficult. Immobile mages are your best match ups.

  3. Early
